About Huawei – South Africa
Huawei is a Chinese information and communications technology (ICT) company that was founded in 1987, with headquarters at Shenzhen, China. The consumer electronics segment manufactures and sells smartphones, tablet computers and dongles. In South Africa, Huawei began operations in 1998 in Pretoria, later relocating to Johannesburg. It today serves as the headquarters for the East and Southern African region. The company partners with some of the top Telecom brands that include Telkom, Vodacom and MTN.
On the Huawei website you can browse the products that the company sells across South Africa. It includes all its latest smartphones, computers, tablets and wearable. On the product page, you also see the authorized resellers from where you can directly buy an item. There is a Manuals & Downloads section for those needing manuals and softwares for a product. And if you need to service your product, you can locate a service center on the website by province (Durban, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Western Cape) and city. There are also Collection Points where faulty devices are collected and sent to a service center. You will need to carry with you purchase documents and warranty cards before proceeding for repair. Most Huawei products besides accessories carry a 1 year warranty. For more information or queries on store locations, online shopping, cancellation, technical support, warranty, manuals, or others reach the Huawei South Africa customer service.
Huawei Menlyn Mall store gets 1out of 20 for customer service!
I was treated like trash at the Huawei Menlyn mall store recently. I called the online advertised store number on a Friday enquiring about a new battery for my phone, a Huawei mate 10 Porshe design. Was told yes, Menlyn store has stock and it happens to be on special actually, R300. Two days later on Sunday morning 10:00 I go to the menlyn store for the battery. I get told I have to leave the phone as it would only be ready at 16:00. I was given a hand written receipt stating consultant’s name, my phone name and the price I would have to pay. I was told the price would be R460 as the special I was told about on the phone had actually already expired weeks ago. I came back to pick up my phone the following day instead, the Monday, at 9:00. The consultant took my receipt and went to the back, 5 min later, she had not come back with my phone yet. A second consultant then came to ask me if I had been assisted. I said yes. 10 min later I’m still sitting waiting. I got irritated and walked into their back office area and demanded to know what the delay was with getting my device. Eventually, someone told me no actually there is no stock of your battery. I immediately felt my tummy twist turn, and just asked my phone be returned to me immediately. I walked out the store disgusted, late for work… for this . I went home and vomited all over the floor. Today I was looking at Samsung phones, I doubt I will experience such with their brand.
Moving from a certain phone to Huawei Y5 has been a drawback for me. Among other things, I cannot search for a specific message of importance. When I had a miss call, I receive a message but it does not show a name even though a caller’s name is stored. When texting the keyboard takes long before it appears on the screen. I regret to have moved from Samsung to Huawei
Hi
Guys i have a battery problem with Huawei p8lite 2017 model. Can you guys please help me with the details for any store around pretoria where I can take my phone to be fixed please help help
I took out a contract a year and half ago with Telkom SA and got a Huawei cell phone with the contract. When I got the phone the Ambassador for Huawei told me that for the two years I have I the phone I can get the screen fixed twice. FOR FREE!!!!
No problem. So I took the phone in, to get fixed for the 1st time for a cracked screen (liquid damage might have occurred from that – the screen), blurry camera and phone kept rebooting intermittently BUT my phone was still working when I took it in. To my dismay I get a quote for R4415.08 to get it fixed. WOW!!!! What happened to FOR FREE!!!! This phone is totally closed up and I can’t even change the battery myself, so how is it possible that I could have gotten it “liquid damaged”? It is funny how a reputable company like Huawei can offer something for free and when it comes to getting it fixed FOR FREE there is always a catch. This has been my third contracted Huawei cell but this was the last because of this. I will never ever get another Huawei again. DO NOT MAKE PROMISES THAT YOU CAN NOT KEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish, wish, wish that your customer service/communications can match your products. I am onto my 5th Huawei phone now and really like the products, but your service is way below par. two complaints currently in that I bought a new P30 and was promised a free gift and “we will keep you updated”. Zero communication. Complaint 2, my wife broke her screen on Psmart 2019, and I’m being sent from pillar to post with no clear answer on where or how it is going to get fixed. These are only the current issues, I have had problems with service before as well. I would like to know if this is the case at Huawei throughout or is it a South African phenomenon.
i purchased the p20 pro through a Vodacom contract and the sales person filed the claim for the watch gt online, so i have no claim id and therefore unable to track my claim.
Please advise.
I bought a 2nd hand Huawei Mediapad, but after 2 years of good service it failed and was flashed out, the asked for a SIM NETWORK UNLOCK PIN. Where do I get it
Good day,
I would like the contact details for the area sales manager, Sarel van Vuuren. He works around North West and I lost his contact details. I met him at a shop in Waterfall Mall in Rustenburg.
I am a pensioner and I purchased a Y6 PRO from Edgars Store at East Rand mall in June of 2017.I am utterly disappointed to find out this morning to find my phone’s screen had gone completely blank.
This phone’s only 18 months old and I really did not expect this to happen to me.
Kindly advise as to what I should do to have this phone either repaired or replaced.
Regards
I would not recommend purchasing a Huawei device to anyone. I bought the P10 for both my wife and myself, first the camera stopped focusing and recently the microphone, the phone is still under warranty with MTN but they said I should send it to Huawei first to have the screen repaired (it has a small crack in the one corner and there is two free screen repairs which was part of the package).
According to Huawei’s service department they refuse to honor their free screen repair, they will not replace the screen if I do not let them repair all the other faults (at a cost). Also after contacting them, trying to resolve this matter on four occasions, they are still charging me for the screen, back camera, front camera, and whatever else they decided to make money out of.
Needless to say, this will be the last Huawei device I will ever purchase.
I have bought my p smart at bay west outlet of hauwei 3 months down the line my phone broke i took to the shop where i bought it now its 2 months i have get my phone back to me Hauwei repair centre they say my phone is ready for collection when i go to shop they dont have my phone i am very very disapointed with this.

I have a Huawei P8 lite 2017 mobile phone. There was no more memory space. So I bought a 16Gb SD memory card and placed it in the phone. My problem now is that I am having trouble in moving apps to the memory SD card. Please assist me with this problem.
Could you please forward me the easiest and simplest way to move apps from my Huawei P8 lite 2017 mobile phone to the memory SD card. If you can forward this request to my email address as soon as possible, I will appreciate it very much.
I took my phone to Melrose Arch almost two weeks ago. I got my quote 3 days later and accepted the quote and paid for it 2 days later. I also recieved an unpleasant phone call asking if I am gonig to pay for the repairs. I have been phoning and e-mailing them for a week now and have not gotten any response eccept being told they would let me know what my phone’s status is.
I am fed up and I have launched a complaint with the consumer protection board.
Phone repair
I have just recently booked my Huawei P9 phone in for repairs. These repairs are under warranty.
I would like to bring to your attention that this is the 3rd time during this contract period that I have had major issues with the Huawei P9. I have the IMEI numbers of the devices if needed. As one of the leading phone brands, you would not expect this.
The first occurrence was within the first month of receiving the phone. The phone kept on rebooting itself and would not stop. After taking the phone in and being without a cellphone for about a week, the phone was replaced as they said that it could not be repaired.
Now the new phone has freezing issues, glitches on the screen, the device switches off by its self and now blind spots on the screen that are spreading. The phone has been sent in and have been told I will be 21 days without a phone. So nearly a month of paying for a contract but without a phone. This is not acceptable.
I hold 5 contracts with Vodacom and have been fairly satisfied with the service from Vodacom, but far less impressed with the Huawei handsets. I will now sit without a phone for this period in hope that the phone is repaired. Please ensure that this handset is either repaired correctly with a warranty or a new handset is issued. I don’t want to continue having issues with the phone or have the handset go faulty again shortly and be told that my warranty has expired.
Please could you attend to this and revert back to asap.
Thank You
Andries.
I have a Vodacom contract and my phone – P9+ – is insured.
Vodacom Hartbeespoort says that I will need to wait 2 to 3 weeks for the phone’s screen to be replaced and that I would need to pay an excess of 15% of the repair costs!!??
Is this true or are they making money out of me?
Can I not courier the phone to you and have the screen fixed free of charge?
I booked in my phone for screen repair in Canal Walk, Ctn last November. And I paid R1228.92 (Thank you for your payment of R1 228.92 on 01 December 2017) for the phone to be repaired. The phone was never fixed due to Huawei Canal Walk taking long to fix it. I took it and sent it somewhere and it was fixed within 24 hrs. I am now still waiting for my refund since the phone was never fixed and it seems like Andre (consultant who has been following this) is not getting assistance from the Huawei Head Office as he is trying his best to help me (in fact he gave up). Please can you guys assist.

Hi
I am currently very unhappy with the Huawei P9 I received in march last year as after about 7 months I have been unable to speak on my phone as my mic is not working correctly. I have also send my phone in for repairs twice coming back exactly the same. The say they replaced the unit but its still not working when I speak on calls people cant hear me.
I need this to be fixed or I need a new phone or the opportunity to upgrade to the new P10.
all the best
I have recently repaired my phone at Huawei service center at Melrose Acrh, sad to say there are no people skills in store and the staff are not friendly at all. The supposed turn around time for devices are 2-14 working days which is a lie, I struggled to get a quote from them which took almost 10 working days, after I accepted the qoute my phones repairs were so slow they could even find my phone for 3 days. My phone was at this center for a total of 23 working days almost double that of the supposed turn around time. Now 3 weeks after I got my phone. I am still recieving messages telling me that my device is ready for pick. Thus their is no kind of order in that store. Sad to say I am disappointed in this brand of cellular device.
