I travelled on the 3.10pm train today from Marylebone to High Wycombe. It was extremely crowded and very unpleasant. I didn’t have a seat. Some people who got on the train before me had bags on spare seats but wouldn’t move them and others were saving seats for other people. I’m 73 and there were a lot of people older than me who had to stand and some were going to Birmingham. Nobody ever gives up a seat now for older or disabled people. A lady near me who had to stand was feeling faint and she was travelling all the way to Birmingham. If there was a guard on the train he wouldn’t have been able to get through. Surely people should not be allowed to save seats for other people or use a seat for their bags when other people have to stand.
I just want to say a big thank you to the staff at Wycombe Station who took such good care of me when my car broke down. Especially Hussain who let me sit in a warm waiting room, gave me bottles of water and escorted me to my car when the rescue came. Wonderful people.
