About Central UP Gas
Central UP Gas Ltd (CUGL) is a city gas distribution company that was established in the year 2005. A joint venture between GAIL and Bharat Petroleum Corporation, CUGL currently serves domestic and commercial consumers in the state of Uttar Pradesh. With a mission to provide eco-friendly energy solutions, CUGL manages its operations from its headquarters at Kanpur. It also owns and operates a number of CNG stations across Kanpur and Bareilly. In FY 2017-18, the company reported turnover of Rs 244 crore.
CUGL’s key products consist of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG). There are about 25 CNG stations that cater the needs of close to 60,000 vehicles running on CNG in Kanpur and Bareilly. As for PNG, the company caters to close to 31,600 households (as of 2018). The PNG domestic service offers continuous supply throughout the year. There are also dedicated technicians to check stoppage, leakage or other disruption.
PNG is also available round the clock and does not require the hassles of refilling cylinders, storage or others. Prior notice must be given for disconnection and reconnection. For new connections, walk into a CUGL office and fill the registration form. There is a registration amount for each connection. They come with a gas meter, regulator, isolation valve, appliance valve and necessary pipe lines. A minimum amount will be charged if no consumption of gas for one billing cycle of two months. Payment for bills can be made online, at banks and at the CUGL offices.
