About Cairo Metro
Cairo Metro began operations in the year 1987. The rapid transit system operates 3 lines, connecting to 61 stations across Cairo, Egypt. It carries an average of 2 million travellers each day. The two lines consist of 1 – Helwan to El Marg and 2 – Shubra to Giza. The third line will connect Imbaba to Cairo International Airport.
Cairo Metro begins services at 5am and ends at midnight 12.30am. Single tickets cost 1 EGP. There are also monthly and yearly tickets available at stations. A contactless card will soon be introduced for convenient payment and travel.
