About Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a nonprofit organization that monitors and sets standards for fair and honest business in the United States. It investigates scams and allows consumers to report shoddy services and corrupt organisations. BBB is not a government agency as assumed by the public. The consumer protection organization is over 100 years old, having been founded in the year 1912. It is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. In 2015, BBB recorded more than 172 million visits by users accessing business profiles.
The organization, consisting of 112 independent local bodies, boasts of more than 4 million businesses on the platform. Users can search a business by name, website or phone and even filter them by location. To locate a business you can use the tool here. You can also file a complaint using the form available on the website. BBB does not accept complaints that has to do with employee/employer, discrimination, litigation, or against individuals not engaged in the specific business. Once a complaint has been submitted, BBB forwards the same to the business within two business days. The business or organisation has 14 days to respond. Complaints are closed within 30 business days.
If you are a business, you can register on the website for a BBB Accreditation. Every accredited brand or business is listed in the Business Directory and identified with the Accredited Business Seal. The listing on the platform will include the company’s website, business images and contact information. BBB says being accredited puts a business among an “elite group” that has “proven to be the best in their industry”. Every BBB Accredited Business is monitored for continuing adherence to BBB standards. I called your office today hoping to get help with an issue that I have. For the past three years now I’ve been getting a call from a company that says they are MicroSoft and that the Better Business Bureau yes that’s you. They are claiming that you are having them return my money. I started my morning off today hoping to put an end to this issue. I called my local police department and they told me to call you the Better Business Bureau and then you told me to call the FCC and then the FCC instructed me to call the FTC which I did. I have pages of information from my phone calls from them. You told me “the better business bureau” not to answer these calls. I’m not stupid the problem I have is they keep changing their phone numbers and I’ve asked them nicely several times not to call me again. The first time I was stupid They took me for $250. The old saying you fool me once shame on me. As of yesterday they have now started to use my own phone number against me some how. I have blocked their phone numbers on my phone well like I said they just come up with the new one. I thought the BBB would be able to help me and all that anybody does is it pass the buck. This situation has been so aggravated that I feel like beating my head against the wall. Nobody can help me. It just seems like nobody wants to. Certainly if they have the technology I would think that my government would be able to help me.
