About Bangladesh Police
Bangladesh Police is the law enforcement authority tasked with crime prevention and investigation in Bangladesh. The force, with a strength of more than 205,000 and headed by the Inspector General, is responsible to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The various ranks include the Assistant Inspector General, DIG, Additional DIG, AIG, Superintendent of Police, Director General (DG), Sub-Inspector, Sergeant, Constable, among others.

The various branches within Bangladesh Police include the Tourist Police, Metropolitan Police, Special Branch, Crime Investigation Dept, Railway Police, Highway Police, Industrial Police, Police Bureau of Investigation, Rapid Action Battalion and Detective Branch. The Metropolitan Police is responsible for maintaining law and order in six metropolis areas. Currently, they include Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshashi, Barisal and Sylhet. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police alone boasts of 50 police stations and a staff exceeding 26,000.
