Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) was founded in the year 1956 with merger of about 245 insurance companies. The insurance business however traces its roots to Oriental Life Insurance Company that was established in 1818 in Calcutta. LIC currently has about 2048 branch offices, 109 divisional offices, 8 zonal offices and 992 satallite offices. The government-owned corporation has a network of around 1.2 million agents. LIC’s payment of premium can be made by cash, local cheque or demand draft at any of its branch offices. Also, payment can be made through service providers such as HDFC Bank, UTI Bank, ICICI Bank, Corporation Bank and Bill Desk. In addition to that is Electronic Clearing Service (ECS) which has been launched at major metros in India. A grace period of one month is given to those unable pay premium before due. Your LIC policy lapses if premium not paid before grace. You can however revive the same later. In case you have lost your LIC policy, report to the nearest branch office.

Today (16th May’17)the undersigned had the privilege to pay visit to your good office at 64 ganesh chandra avenue,kolkata cbo-7 )( 1st floor).
The very purpose was to submit one NEFT MANDATE form duly filled up with a supporting document to the assigned counter who flatly declined to entertain as the timing was 1515 hrs instead of 1500 hrs.
On this i told him that his pronounced time is not there for customer’s guidance.On his categorical denial,i requested for the higher officer.The concerned higher officer not only listened but told me not possible for reporting 1515hrs.
First and foremost,the same miniscule job of submission of NEFT MANDATE form could have been online instead of coming from a noticeable distance that too in such sultry hot weather and listen a flat denial.
Secondly,having the very apathy from the concerned officer he started shouting on me while pointing him out non-furnishing the time the officer has told.His clueless situation along with his highly condemnable behaviour to a policy holder (policy no.577104589 ) like me made me awfully dejected.
Seeing his yelling 2-3 good officers came forward and did help me on the day itself.Though on my insistence neither they disclose their names nor the concerned officer’s.
Having such uncalled for bitter experience from Lic officer,i sincerely request the competent authority to look the subject in a befitting way so as no other customer like me ought not have the same bizarre feeling along with the compunction of becoming LIC POLICY HOLDER.
Hope a timely remedial action would be initiated.

sir i would like to request you to provide address & contact no. of your P&Gs department as my uncle has one master policy no.GSCA/12480..Annuity no.091Q0201079022 and for the same he wants to submit his Existence Certificate.As per your letter recieved alongwith format of Existence Cert. we can submit to any nearest branch of Lic but I m sorry to mention even your Thane Divisional branch office is not accepting the existence cert.
My policy no 552065405 is matured on 28th July 2016. I have submitted all the required document to your Chaibasa Branch office. Regret to say that amount has not been credited in my account till date . Even your chaisbasa phone no 259900 is not responding . Pl advise them to respond.

I have two Jeevan Saral policy no. 354569436 & 354569437 with Rs 12010/- premium per annum each. I have deposited only one premium on 09.02.2012, and I am not in condition to continue the poly further more, as my financial position is very weak. So I want to withdraw my amount,
I also communicated this with the agent in this regard but did not get any satisfactory reply from him. So, can you please assist me to the surrender policy.

My LIC Policy No. 295300603, Branch LIC of India, Gorakhpur Branch, Pratibha Complex, Jublee Road Gorakhpur (UP) (Branch Code : 208) has matured. Inspite of submitting relevant documents vide LIC office Receipt Number 491582/4659 dated 05 May 2014 and personal visit to the branch office many times, I have not yet received the cheque for the maturity amount.

LIC bangalore response to phone calls is pathetic. How can a organization like LIC do not take a note of it and how do they except customers to reach them in person ?? They are living at leat 25 years behind. I wanted some info on my superannuation and i was asked to dial 22248948 , 49 and 50. Iam tired of calling.
Despite several reminders / complaints/suggestions, LIC India hasn’t restored the online premium payment facility. Stalling of this service at a time when traffic is heavier, fuel cost is thick and travelling time to any place in a city like Delhi, has adversely affected the insured persons as policies get expired. Do the cash rich LIC want to add to its whopping profits by receiving additional money from investors towards restoration of their policies, which had been affected for want of online payment facilty.
On 17 Feb 2013, i paid my LIC premium with number 253714135 (Jeevan anand,YLY, Branch Code 255) of amount Rs 5553 through my SBI netbanking account. The amount was deducted from my account but it is has not reached LIC and therefore it is still showing due. I Have already confirmed with LIC office at Ghaziabad and through my LIC agent about the payment. I think there is some problem with BILLDESK gateway.
I would like to change the ECS mandate for my pension under Jeevan Suraksha Plan. Could you please let me have the procedure to do this online.
I am Pension A/C bearing Pol No.582122034 of Puri Branch. At the beginning of commencement of monthly pension I was asked to submit Bank account details. I have submitted the same & had expected that the payment will come by ECS/NEFT. But for last 2 years I used to get post dated cheques. All my post dated cheques were exhausted as on 01 04 2012. When post dated cheques are not received I gave a mail on 22/04/12 to their customerzone, Bhubaneswar. Very promptly on 23rd I received a call that from March/2012, they have discontinued the practise of sending post dated cheques. Hence they need my bank account details. On the same day I had sent by speed post my Bank details to their Patna Office from where I used to get post dated cheques. Till date I donot know the fate of my monthly pension. Neither they have acknowledged receipt of my bank details or any information that they will commence payment directly to my Bank account, This is absolutely very callous attitude. Is there any remedy so that I donot remind them again and again for my pension amount.

I paid premium last year and i have the receipt for that & even in my bank statement amount is deducted, today i got intimation letter that premium not paid. We went to LIC office in hyderabad but not getting any response, they said it is computer error… Pl give the mail id to whom i need to address this issue.
My policy no xx is with East central zonal office (Individual pension Policy servicing cell.) at Patna. It will be highly appreciated if you can mail status of annuaty payments for this financial year.
I regret to inform a horrying experience which i went through officers & staff of your branch office at lakheri (rajasthan) this afternoon & earlier once in the past also. I am the holder of four money back policy with you &one jeevan suraksha. I had visited your lakheri branch in aug2011 to avail loan agaist the aforesaid policies. On depositing these policies i was informed by mr. RP Meena who looks after loan section that i should visit the afternoon for collecting the cheque. I would like to inform you that i am a housewife & your branch office is far away from my residence. They had not informed me that since the policy is in the name of my husband I should bring him while collecting the cheque. My husband is suffering from acute parkinsionism and unable to walk. Your staff harassed me for 2-3 hours & humilated me before delivering cheque to me. Your officer commented that you will have to come back to us for further jobs.
Even today when i went to your office to surrender market plus & 5 policies of market plus to avail the accrued amount. I was humilated by your officers & staff of this branch, saying me to produce my id although each one of them knows me well & all docs were in my favour. They had not informed me to bring the id at the time of submitting the docs. Even they had not informed to bring witness while collecting the cheque.
Although i agree that we need to follow some rules for collecting money but the prerequsites must be informed to a customer that too a housewife who is struggling hard to support her family.
With above incidents do you think any customer would like to avail services of your esteemed organisation for past one century of this country. Shame on such organisation which cannot protect the dignity of women of the country.

I fully agree. LIC is not trustworthy. I had bad experience while making one policy in 1996.(In calcutta BBD bag branch) According to LIC tests, I am supposed to have v. High diabetes. they refused the policy, kept my Rs. 10,000/-( that time it was a large amount).The agent, area manager and branch manager all got together, and humiliated me.( I was then central Govt class II officer)to drive me away from the ofice.I wrote againt them, but got no response no relief.When they treat an adult like this, how can we trust that they will look after the benefiery children, if we are gone suddenly?
