My wife and I have a business class reservation with JAL on flight JL0772 on March 26 and returning to Sydney on flight JL0051 on April 11 Booking number LZDPD7. The purpose of this flight was to join a Holland America cruise of Japan leaving Yokohama on March 28. Due to the devastating effects of the Coronavirus, Holland America has cancelled this cruise and is refunding fares to booked passengers. Because of this cancellation , we now have no purpose in flying to Japan and will need to cancel our reservation with JAL. However, our travel agent has advised me that JAL will charge us a cancellation fee of AUD 400 each. In view of Holland America’s decision to fully refund fares and also offer a credit for a future cruise, I ask JAL to please waive your normal cancellation fee. In support of this request I also advise that the hotel we had booked in Yokohama has refunded what we paid them for our accommodation. I also have a letter from my doctor recommending against our being in the Coronavirus area due to the mortality likelihood of this disease for people of our age. I hope you will grant my request as we are still considerably out of pocket for this abandoned trip we were very much looking forward to.
It would appear that you are now refunding without cancellation fees due to the Coronavirus. We received the refund for our trip but have yet to receive the $600.00 cancellation fee. Please contact us at the email address above. Please do not ask us to contact your Sydney Australia office as they just do not answer their phones. I spent hours waiting for them to answer the phone.

On Wednesday, March 21, my friend (Carol Lissauer) and I (Linda Seaman) were due to fly from JFK to Tokyo in Flt.JL0003.Due to weather conditions, the flight was cancelled. JAL did not contact us by email to inform us and I had to call to find out.It was disappointing that you did not make this easier for us. The phone lines were exceedingly busy and when I tried to call about other reservations, I gave up after trying for one and a half hours. This service was not what we expected from JAL.
We had to cancel out trip to Tokyo because we were due to get on a cruise ship on March 24 and we would have missed part of the trip on the Oceana.
We know that the weather was not in your control but your poor service only exacerbated our disappointment.

Dear Sirs / Madam,
I am sorry to inform you that I have just cancelled my previous booking flight with booking number LHNN5N and made a new purchase with booking reference V8L8P2. I was a JMB member before with membership 40 360 0912 which is now invalid due to some reason. I need to return back to Hong Kong as my father died suddenly to attend the funeral. However I made the first purchase in rush and cancelled it today.
It would be highly appreciated if you could grant me a very very special consideration to waive the charge of JPY20,000 for my request of ticket refunds.
Yours faithfully,
Yeung Sau King
