About Charlotte Douglas International Airport
Charlotte Douglas International Airport was established in the year 1935. The airport, in 2010, was named 7th busiest airport in the world for traffic movements. The airport carried some 38 million passengers in 2010. Charlotte Douglas Airport is North Carolina’s primary airport is currently US Airways’ largest hub. The airport connects to some 138 destinations.
My 82 year aged friend arrived to CLT via BOS today, June 23, 2021. I prearranged a wheelchair. Her plane landed at 8:20 AM and she was the last passenger off as she is disabled. An Escort got her off the plane and left her at the gate check in and NEVER CAME back for her! I was frantic as we were to get a connecting flight together and I could not find her at our connecting gate. At 9:10 AM she shows up at gate D9 which is doing it’s final boarding call. The whole trip went badly because absolutely no wheelchair escort met her at her gate and pushed her to her connection! She waited for anyone to come by and get her to gate D from C. No go…so bless her little heart she started to walk with her walker cane and 2 artificial knees. Gasping, she crawled to gate D9 and they were ready for her.
They put her in a wheelchair down the jetway to board the flight. This is not the first time this has happened to her at CLT but it was a close call for missing her flight. So to the company that has the passenger transport at CLT, y’all are doing a BAD job of moving passengers from point A to B. Not happy at all with the persons running this program. Something must be done to make it efficient. Thank you.
I am a 70 year old woman who is in good shape for my age. However, having to run the whole length of the airport because my incoming flight was late and I only had 25 minutes to get to my connecting flight, was really hard for me. I stopped and asked a police officer if the airport had the little carts to take you from gate to gate and he said they stopped that a couple years ago! Hello!!! Not everyone can run the length of that airport. My sister wouldn’t even be able to walk that far with her bad heart. I thought about just missing my flight because I didn’t think I could keep going but I pushed myself. I got to my flight just in time to get on the plane. I cannot believe that an airport of that size has no help for the elderly or the disabled. It was a disgrace. You pay top dollar to fly and this is what you get? Even Philadelphia has the little golf carts to take you from place to place. I will do everything I can to avoid Charlotte Douglas airport in the future.
Baggage claim at Charlotte Douglas is the worst service I have ever experienced. I travel every week and I have to check a bag every time I travel. I know you have to be patient when you check a bag but after an hour of sitting outside of “C” like my app said still my destination does not show up on the screen. Next thing I know I see my bag. I asked the people earlier and they said be patient it’s not ready yet it usually takes 45 minutes to an hour do the bag to come out. They were right and my destination NEVER appeared on the screen. I live in Charlotte and take great pride in our amazing city however the baggage system at Charlotte is the complete opposite of that. The worst part of all this is that none of this review means anything at all. So basically I’m just venting to help make myself feel better.
