About Barcelona El Prat Airport
Barcelona El Prat Airport commenced commercial operations in the year 1918. It is the second largest airport in Spain. The airport served some 29 million passengers in the year 2010. The airport connects to several international routes that include Amsterdam, Paris, London-Heathrow, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan, Munich, Lisbon, Brussels, Geneva, Vienna, Dublin and New York. Barcelona El Prat Airport has two terminals.
Some of the major airlines operating from the airport include Adria Airways, Aer Lingus, Aeroflot, Aeromexico, Air France, Alitalia, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Iberia, Lufthansa, Pakistan Intl, Qatar Airways, Ryanair, Spanair, Scandinavian, Singapore Airlines, SWISS, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, US Airways and Ukraine Airlines.
Had an awful experience at Barcelona Airport. We used this airport for our departure back to the UK. There was no proper signposting about flights and gates, the airport staff either had no knowledge about visa controls (one woman said that I could stay in Spain even after my visa was expiring on the day…the Spanish embassy only gave me a visa for the 4 days of my trip) and flights, and some of the staff was very unprofessional and rude; they rolled their eyes and made faces at us as we had arrived late to the boarding gate. There were rarely, if any English announcements in Terminal 2 and all of this made us miss our flight. The airport is a nightmare for English speakers. The only positive experience at this airport was when a man at the Ryanair counter booked us on another flight to the UK on the same day.
However, that flight was delayed by too long; it was supposed to leave at 6:40pm, but it left at 8:20pm, and that made us made our coach home, which further caused more problems for us in the UK. Although we had an amazing time in Barcelona, this appalling state of an international airport that attracts millions of visitors each year really put us off and ruined the trip. I feel that the staff needs to be retrained in professional behavior, and information about visas, flights and gates. There also needs to be proper signposting about flights and gates and more announcements and signs in English in all parts of the airport.
Hello
we are having a trip in Europe
I was wondering if there are any luggage storage options in BARCELONA AIRPOT
As well if I will be coming from paris by train how far would that be from the Barcelona airport as I might need to leave on same day to GRANADA
Thanks
Dear sir,
My complaint is about the passport control services at Barcelona airport. Yesterday, 23 October 2016, my family and I came to the airport at 09:00 AM, 2,5 prior to our flight to Istanbul Turkey. When we came to the passport control section, we realized that there were many people waiting for the passport control and there was only one booth open with two police officers in it, who were trying to provide service to the waiting passengers. The other booths were not open. I couldn’t understand why only two officers were working during the busiest time of the airport. The other passengers and I were understandably disappointed and many people were about the miss their flights. We had a great time in Barcelona; however, because of the said reason, I am not planning to come back again. My personal feeling is that the tourists are taken granted, which means they are coming anyhow, so there is no reason to ease their stay, or satisfy their expectations, by providing a good service and treating them in a more respectful manner.
Truly, I don’t know if my complaint will make any a change or difference in terms of the way you operate the airport, but I feel obligated to express my feelings because of what I went through yesterday.
Sincerely,
M. Tayfun Turhanoglu
P.S: When we arrived to Istanbul Airport, 32 out of the 32 passport control booths were all opened and we were done within ten minutes.
Please can I have the direct telephone number for the business lounge in Terminal 2. I need to contact the reception there as I think I left my mobile phone there at closing time last night
On the 6/03/2013 i was coming from Marrakesh and we had to stop in Barcelona to get another flight to London. I have to tell you that i had the most worst experience in all my life! I found the airport a mess, the directions strange and the customer service from information desk very poor. The lady on the desk did not have any skills and knowledge about anything, she could not give me any answer or direction, she was shouting and raising her voice. I have to say that i do not have any desire to put my feet in Spain!!!
Just for attention of the Airport Management. A few days ago (september 10) I was at registration desk in the Barcelona Airport (flight Barcelona – Kiev). So I have luggage 2 bags at registration desk and put it for registration and received 2 checks – for 1 item chek was to KIEV, it’s OK, but for 2 bag check was to SAS OSLO????? We said about that to lady at registration desk and she was sorry and within 10 min she made some calls and situation was corrected (as she said), we received another correct check for luggage to Kiev….But now in Kiev we’re waiting for our luggage (item 2) from OSLO second day !!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not a fault of Ukrainian air company but fault of your staff….
