If you are all for aerial thrills and love taking giant wheel rides on festival carnivals with child-like excitement, then this one’s for you. The Singapore Flyer is built in the image of a giant wheel but is a colossal structure that is a lot more immense and vast than a regular Ferris wheel ride that you would take at a city fair. The Flyer’s height matches a 42-storey-high building, and its diameter is approximately 150 metres. It is located in the heart of the city and is a popular landmark and tourist attraction.
The breathtaking beauty and architectural engineering of this wondrous city-state can be marveled at and enjoyed best from the highest vantage point. The Singapore Flyer is a fascinating giant observation wheel that gives a panoramic view not only of Singapore city alone but stretches to include parts of Indonesia and Malaysia too on a clear-sky day. It opened its gates to the public in 2008 and was constructed to offer something unique and amazing to the locals and tourists, allowing them to explore and capture the pristine beauty of the state from different aerial angles.
As you emerge from the glass capsule as the trip draws to an end, you find yourself in an endless trance-like state that doesn’t leave you for the longest time; you are filled with inexpressible joy and a sense of invincibility because you just took the world’s highest ride that made you feel so powerful and superior. It widens your perspective as well.
The Singapore Flyer also qualifies as the largest Giant Observation Wheels in the world. The wheel lets you take remarkable and memorable snapshots of the entire cityscape along with its most famous addresses and tall skyscrapers against the blue horizon.
So if vertigo isn’t a problem and you are not acrophobic, the Singapore Flyer is a must-visit in the Garden City. With so many immersive experiences to indulge in, it will undoubtedly be a worthwhile trip to gift yourself and your family whilst on a holiday in Singapore.
The operating hours of the Singapore Flyer are 2 pm to 10 pm from Thursday to Monday. It is open on public holidays too. However, it remains closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Different package options are available and prices differ with each. Tickets can be purchased conveniently online using major credit cards.
