Indira Gandhi International Airport (or IGI in short) is located in Palam in Delhi, the capital city of India, and counts as one of the busiest airports in the country. The airport is about 16 kilometers southwest of New Delhi city center and covers an area of approximately 5,106 acres or 2,066 hectares.

IGI was first opened in 1930. It has three runways and three terminals. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights, Terminal 2 is for low-cost airlines, and Terminal 3 is for international and some domestic flights. Terminal 3 opened in 2010 and is the newest and also the busiest of the three terminals. It also features as one of the biggest terminals in the world.

IGI has won several awards in the past because of its infrastructure and services, including ‘The Best Airport in Central Asia/India’ award at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in 2020.

The airport is known for its modern and well-equipped facilities, such as free WiFi, lounges, restaurants, duty-free shops, and other amenities for passengers. It also offers a range of services like baggage storage, baggage wrapping, currency exchange, and medical assistance. Overview of Terminals

Terminal 1 at IGI Airport is used for domestic flights operated by low-cost carriers, such as IndiGo, GoAir, and SpiceJet. It can handle 18 million passengers annually and is divided into Terminal 1D and Terminal 1C. Terminal 1D is the newest addition and is used exclusively by IndiGo Airlines.

Terminal 2 is also used by low-cost carriers like IndiGo and SpiceJet. The terminal has been renovated and upgraded recently to enhance the passenger experience. Its capacity is lesser than Terminal 1, with approximately 12 million passengers per year.

Terminal 3 is the main international terminal but also handles some domestic flights, such as Air India, Vistara, and others. The terminal has a capacity of around 40 million passengers per year, also making it one of the largest in the world. It has also won several awards for its modern and world-class infrastructure.

How to Check Arrivals and Departures Online

You can check the arrivals and departures of flights by visiting IGI’s official website and clicking on the ‘Flight Status’ option on the home page. Select ‘Arrivals’ or ‘Departures’ based on your requirement. Enter your flight number, date of travel, and airline name (optional), and click on ‘Search’ to view the live flight status.

Alternatively, you can download the IGI airport’s official mobile app ‘DIAL – Flight Tracker’ from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Open the app, select ‘Arrivals’ or ‘Departures’ based on your requirement, and follow the same procedure as above to view the real-time flight information.

Additionally, there are several flight tracking websites like FlightStats, and FlightRadar24, which provide real-time information on flight arrivals and departures at IGI Airport.

Lounges are the space where you would like to relax and let your hair down briefly before you head for another flight.

The IGI Airport has several lounges across all three terminals, offering a comfortable and luxurious experience to passengers, irrespective of the airline they are flying with. Additionally, passengers can also avail themselves of currency exchange services at the airport, withdraw cash and carry out financial transactions at the ATMs and banks located across the airport. There are medical facilities and first-aid centers to attend to medical emergencies.
