If you have been to New York, it is less likely you have not passed through Radio City Music Hall. The iconic building is located within Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan. With a history of more than 90 years, Radio City Music Hall is the epicenter of performing arts. Opened in the year 1932, the large indoor auditorium boasts an impressive Art Deco-styled interiors that attracts tourists from around the globe.

At Radio City you will find a Calendar regularly filled with musical concerts, movie premieres, award shows and special programs. Built by John D. Rockefeller, Radio City has been home to Rockettes, the all-female precision-dancing troupe. Since the opening of the auditorium, the Rockettes has been performing annually. Each year more than one million participate in the live event. This is in addition to the hundreds of productions it hosts each year.

Finding the landmark building

Covering an area of 2 acres, the Radio City Music Hall has a seating capacity of about 5,950. Also nicknamed as Showplace of the Nation, it is currently operated by the Madison Square Garden Entertainment. Located at 1260 Avenue of the Americas, between 50th and 51st Streets, you can get to the venue comfortably by bus, train or subway. The nearest subway stations within walkable distance are – 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr, 49 St and 5 Av/53 St. When you are there, you cant miss the other attractions such as the Rockefeller Center, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Museum of Modern Art, the Lego Store, Times Square, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park and Empire State Building. There are ample parking garages around the Music Hall for those driving on their own automobile. Parking for your car can be reserved online or through the app. There are also plenty of budget as well as premium hotels offering accommodation.

Event calendar & tickets

To keep track of all the ongoing and upcoming events in art, music, comedy, and theater, you can visit the official website. It has details of the show along with time and other details. Tickets for events can be purchased through Ticketmaster. The interactive seat chart will show the seat locations, stage and entrances. People with disabilities can request wheelchair assistance, book accessible seats and also assistive listening devices. Note that the return and cancellation terms for tickets vary according to the event. The ticket you have purchased will have details of same. If you have booked through Ticketmaster, you can access digital tickets through the app. Tickets can be transferred via the app if necessary. Note that doors will open at least 90 minutes prior to the event. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the Music Hall. Other prohibited items include video cameras, monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, audio recording devices, signs/banners, weapons and cans.

Visiting New York City for the first time? Don’t miss the experience of touring the Radio City Music Hall. The Radio City Stage Door Tour runs daily 9.30am to 5pm. It takes you through the historic auditorium where you can see the Art Deco masterpieces and 60-foot high foyer, besides the Great Stage where all the action takes place.
