The second fastest-growing digital economy of the world, India is now on its way to become a global fintech and payments hub. With the increased push towards developing Digital India, many sectors, including the financial sector are seeing high levels of activity. When the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology highlighted the potential of India’s digital economy, by projecting the creation of $1 trillion digital economic value in 2025, multiple trends and technologies began expanding their base. Currently, the digital economy of India is generating a value of $200 billion. When the pandemic knocked at the doors, the need to go contactless for payments became more eminent and provided a much-focused push to the digital economy. In 2019, one of the most prominent and popular payments systems, United Payments Interface (UPI), recorded one billion transactions and more than 100 million users in merely three years since the launch. UPI now accounts for half of the total digital transactions in the country.
What is BHIM UPI?
UPI, short for United Payments Interface, is a real-time mobile payment system in India. The system is developed by NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India). UPI was launched in 2016 with an interface that facilitates inter-bank transactions. The Reserve Bank of India is currently regulating the system. UPI connects multiple bank accounts on its application and allows users to go for immediate money transfer and hassle-free payments. UPI allows users to link the bank accounts to P2P (peer-to-peer) payment apps, like Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, BHIM, MobiKwik, among others. In India, the most popular UPI app is the BHIM UPI. BHIM stands for Bharat Interface Money. You can use BHIM UPI to pay individuals, institutions, and banks via QR Codes, phone numbers, account numbers, Aadhaar numbers, VPAs, or UPI IDs. If you are using BHIM UPI and have faced issues with sending money or other transactions, you can report the same for support.
Raise a concern on app or call the bank
If you have already downloaded the app and are facing issues with a transaction, you have an easy way to get out of the jam. Once you open the BHIM UPI app, you can find the ‘raise a complaint’ option in the menu. Select the transaction that you want to raise a complaint about. Here, you will have two options at your disposal. First, raise concern on the app, second call the bank. If you faced the issue on the app, your best way out is to raise the concern right there. Mention the issue in the online complaint form, and submit the same. If you wish to speak to the customer assistance team of BHIM, you might want to select ‘call bank’. The option will directly connect you to the toll-free assistance number 1800 120 1740. Users can also use their bank’s mobile app to process a UPI transaction. In such cases, for any transactional issue or related, you might need to consider calling the customer assistance team of your bank than the BHIM customer care.
Report via the ‘Get in Touch’ option
BHIM has designed a special support platform Get in Touch to allow users lodge complaints related to BHIM UPI. If you have concerns on registration, cashback, transaction, bank account, or PIN, this is the page that can help you. You can find the ‘Get in Touch’ service on the app as well as website. The service offers three sections for customer communication – Query, Complaint, or Feedback. Use the complaint section to report a complaint on transaction, login, or cashback issues. Choose the type of complaint you want to make from the drop-down, fill in the information including date of transaction, mobile number, email address, and comment. Solve the captcha and submit the form. The response from the portal will be communicated to your registered email address.
