Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson has been inarguably the most controversial media personality of the century.
Tucker was born on May 16th in San Francisco, California. He and his brother were raised by their father — diplomat and American journo — Richard Warner Carlson, and step-mom, Patricia Swanson, rich heiress of the affluent Swanson family. Tucker hails from an extremely wealthy, and socially and politically well-connected family. He attended a private boarding school in his formative years, and later graduated in history from Trinity College.
According to reports, Tucker wanted to join the CIA but was eventually rejected. Later, at the behest of his father (a celebrated former reporter himself), he turned to journalism. Often, we have to take a long, winding road to reach where we want to be and the scenario was no different for Carlson either.
Before becoming one of the most influential right-wing commentators in the country and landing his current role with the prestigious cable network —Fox News channel — Tucker ‘had to pay his dues’ (in his own words) handling odd jobs like reading the weather report, being a VJ, even doing PR, and stopping at CNN, PBS, and MSNBC. His varied career included a stint as a columnist with New York Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and the Wall Street Journal. He was a ‘talented scribe’ according to many of his peers.
However, a heated argument on a television show with the noted Jon Stewart (who unapologetically called him out and felt that he was harmful to the political discourse that ‘hurt’ America) in 2004, made the beginning of Carlson’s transformation from a journalist to a commentator. Ever since, he has been variously denounced as ‘racist’, ‘sexist’, ‘dangerous’, ‘biased’, and an ‘immigrant fear-monger’, but not a journalist.
The scathing criticism never affected the man; in fact, he kept evolving his presentation style which has often been described as intellectual, but combative. He challenges the status quo, presenting opposing viewpoints — which many feel, moved him away from real journalism. He has often been criticized for his extremism, sensationalism, and ‘vulgar attacks’ on the Democratic leaders. He took pleasure in engaging in inflammatory rhetoric, but he proved quite successful also in influencing public perception.
Love him or hate him, you can’t ignore him! According to a recent poll, Tucker Carlson is America’s 152nd ‘most popular contemporary TV personality.’

Tucker, You are one of the reasons I watched Fox News. You always dug a lot deeper for the truth in a way that made you really think about where this country was going. The interviews you had with Mr. Trump was fantastic. You had people on your show that I had never heard of before but were always so informative and interesting.
Tucker, We are saddened over these recent events. You are in our prayers. It’s a sad time in our country.
Tucker, After much research and due diligence, my vote is for NewsMax, if you chose to affiliate with another network. While you would probably have more freedom going independent, I think for a greater audience share immediately, affiliation with an established platform would be the way to go, on your terms. At least in the short term. Anyway, Good luck and I’ll (we’ll) be looking for you where ever you land.
Tucker, I CANNOT believe Fox management was so weak in their decision to fire you! YOU were their bread and butter yet their decision is so “deep state”. They will soon be losing their money and viewership down to CNN level. Unfortunately, this is a turning point in our country where conservatives and the core principals of this nation may never recover. So much for free speech.
Dear Tucker… I think you are one of the best dudes in news since I’ve been on the earth!! I am a 45 year old mother of two and my husband and I never miss your show.. I am terribly sorry for what these people have done to you.. you were true kind and necessary. You are an amazing journalist, and a really fabulous presenter…your hour in Fox news was a regular part of our night.. sometimes we would feel your angst, and other times we laughed until our stomach hurt. I had tears in my eyes when I heard this news…you’re a great guy, from our generation and we sure do appreciate you.. please take care of yourself and your family until we see you again.
Tucker, I can’t believe you are no longer on Fox. You’re the only reason I watched Fox. Whatever the reason for your departure, you are a terrific journalist and I appreciate your truthfulness without apology. Good luck to you- whatever your Next venture. Miss you in Colorado!!
I was so disturbed about today’s news about Tucker Carlson going away.. I am sure Tucker will go gracefully and go on a show that really cares for his ways. Please please tell us public where can see you on the air again. One of your admirers here!
