With a diverse population of over 212 million people, Brazil is widely known for its football culture and being a major exporter of iron ore. However, the country is also home to some of the most reputed and technologically advanced mobile network service providers, one of which is TIM Brasil.

Being a subsidiary of Telecom Italia, TIM Brasil was established in 1995 and began its commercial operations in 1998. It is currently the third-largest mobile service provider in Brazil, commanding a market share of around 25 per cent. The company also boasts of enjoying a massive customer base, exceeding 60 million subscribers. Besides offering mobile services, TIM Brasil also provides fixed telephony, broadband internet, and other services to its loyal user base.

TIM Brasil is well-known for its wide coverage across the country, variety of different plans targeting different users, and helpful and knowledgeable customer support. However, the areas where the company does require some improvements are its expensive plans and frequent technical issues (slow data speeds and dropped calls). So, if any of the aforementioned drawbacks are affecting your overall user experience on the network, then the time has come to look for a better alternative. As a result, we have formulated a step-by-step guide that you can follow to deactivate your TIM Brasil service today.

What are the Cancellation Terms

TIM Brasil allows its customers to cancel their service any time they want, provided they lodge a termination request or complaint with the company’s customer care support. However, the cancellation terms vary based on the type of plan you are using.

If you are a prepaid customer on the TIM Brasil network, then you do not have to pay any cancellation charges. But if you are a postpaid customer, then you need to first pay the due amount, proportional to the use of services provided by the company. Only then your service will be terminated.

TIM Brasil also allows its customers to temporarily suspend or interrupt their services once every twelve months without any charge, for a minimum period of 30 days to a maximum period of 120 days. So, if you are only planning to cancel or close your service for a temporary period, then such a clause can come in handy.

Steps to Cancel Your TIM Brasil Number

Now that you have a rigorous idea of what the cancellation policy of TIM Brasil entails, you can now follow the below-mentioned steps to cancel your number smoothly.

Cancelling via Phone
  1. The primary step involves connecting with the customer support via phone. You can do that by calling *144, 1056, or 0800 7412580 (for people with hearing impairments). Phone lines are live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  2. Navigate through the on-call options so that you can talk to a live agent.
  3. Once a customer care executive connects to your call session, provide your account details, such as your full name, phone number, registered email ID, CPF details, etc. The customer care agent will then verify the integrity of your information.
  4. After your identity verification is complete, request cancellation while also stating your reason. If you are a prepaid customer, then your number will be cancelled without any difficulty. However, if you are a postpaid customer, then you will be notified of the final bill that you have to pay before your service can be terminated.
  5. Lastly, once your phone service is deactivated, you will receive a confirmation message at your registered email address.
Cancelling at Nearest Store
  1. Begin the cancellation process by first visiting the official store locator web page for TIM Brasil here.
  2. Scroll down until you find all the lists of available stores around you. You can either decide to visit the store without an appointment (based on the store address) or proceed to schedule a visit. Make sure you carry an identity proof (CPF) along with your mobile phone (containing a TIM Brasil SIM card) with you.
  3. Once you are at the store, ask the store representative to cancel your service. The store representative will first verify your customer identity, and once that is completed, you will be able to proceed with the cancellation process.
  4. If you have a prepaid plan, then you can deactivate your number and walk right out of the store without any issues. However, if you are a postpaid user, you can choose to pay your dues on the spot.
  5. Once all dues are settled, do not forget to obtain a receipt as proof of payment. Only after that will your service be terminated.
Cancelling Online
  1. First, you need to sign in to your TIM Brasil account here. Alternatively, you can also download the My TIM app either from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
  2. Once you have signed into your account, go to “My Profile” and learn about all the plan options that you are currently subscribed to.
  3. Look for the plan you want to cancel and proceed to confirm the cancellation.
  4. Based on your customer category (prepaid or postpaid), you will be required to clear your dues depending on the services you have used so far. You can decide to clear the dues at the same moment.
  5. Once your payment is successful, your service will be terminated, and a confirmation message will be sent to your registered email address.
