The United States Air Force (USAF) is a modern armed forces service founded in 1907. Initially operating as part of United States Army, USAF now functions independently and is currently the largest and most advanced air force. The force is headquartered at Arlington County, Virginia, US. It boasts of 318,000 active personnel, 70,000 Air Force Reserve personnel and 106,000 Air National Guard personnel. Responsible to the Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force monitors and engages in warfare in air and space. The website states it’s mission is to “fly, fight and win in air, space and cyberspace”.For the same, USAF deploys and operates 6 constellations and over 170 satellites.

The United States Air Force’s five core missions consist of air and space superiority, global integrated ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), rapid global mobility, global strike, and command and control. The USAF has also taken part in a number of humanitarian operations. The force is led by the Secretary of the Air Force. It’s major commands include Air Combat Command, Air Education and Training Command, Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Force Material Command, Air Force Reserve Command, Air Force Space Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Pacific Air Forces and Air National Guard.
