tehran metro customer serviceTehran Metro began operations in the year 1999. The rapid transit system operates 5 lines connecting over 100 stations across Tehran, Iran. Line 1 connects from Tajrish station to Shoush-Khayyam. Line 2 connects Sadeghieh and Imam Khomeini; Line 3 connects southwest Tehran to northeast; Line 4 from Ferdowsi Square to Darvazeh Shemiran. A new metro line, linking Mehrabad International Airport to the Tehran’s subway system was opened in 2016. There are two new lines currently underway.

The operating hours of the metro system are from 5.30 am to 11pm. There are single fare tickets as well as electronic cards, the latter suitable for  passengers who make frequent trips. The Metro cards are valid for use in buses as well. Any unused amount in it can also be claimed for a refund. Magnetic tickets are not rechargeable and refundable. Note that on all Tehran Metro trains, first and last wagons are reserved for women.
