About Swedish Police Authority
Swedish Police Authority is the chief law enforcement agency in Sweden, formed in 2014. The police, locally known as Polismyndigheten, formerly operated as Swedish National Police Board. It employs more than 28,000 and operates from its headquarters at Kungsholmen, Stockholm. The local civilian agency is responsible to the Minister for Justice. It is headed by the National Police Commissioner. The key departments within the Swedish Police consist of the National Forensics Centre, National Operations Department, Communications Department, Development Department, Finance Dept, HR Dept, IT Dept and Legal Dept. The police operations are divided into seven regions – North, Central, East, West, South, Stockholm and Bergslagen.

The Swedish Police Authority is responsible to promote and preserve public order, investigate crime and identify problems that lead to crimes.
