About South West Trains
South West Trains is a British train operating company that is part of Stagecoach South Western Trains Ltd. It currently operates over 1,600 trains each day and serves more than 200 stations in the South and South West England. The network includes Hampshire, Surrey, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Devon, Somerset and Greater London. Headquartered in London, South West Trains employs some 4,500 people.
Annually, the South West Trains network is used by over 208 million people. The South West Trains has a fleet of close to 360 trains, both electric and diesel. Plan your journey by accessing the train timetable or live arrival and departure information available on the website. Tickets can be purchased online or at any staffed stations. Additionally, there are also self-serve ticket machines at most stations. The ticket machines sell single tickets, travelcards, Railcards, season tickets, among others.
For cheaper tickets, travel mid-week or on a mid-day service. As for ticket types, there are Single & Return tickets (Anytime, Off Peak, Super Off Peak & Advance), Season tickets and Railcards. Tickets purchased online can be viewed and managed on the My Account section online. Use a Smartcard to load your Season or single tickets. The Smartcard is not transferable.
Passengers can claim compensations for delays or cancellations of trains. Read the Passenger’s Charter on the website for more details. As for cancellation, it varies with ticket type. For more information or queries on payment, refund/cancellation, Railcards, Season tickets, lost and found items, or others, reach the South West Trains customer service.
I bought a Day Travelcard for 23 January but, due to illness of my friend in London I did not travel.
Is there any refund possible or a delay so that I might use the same card on another day when my friend has recovered?
Thank you.
