About Santiago Metro
Santiago Metro is a rapid transit system serving Santiago, Chile. It was launched in the year 1975 and currently operates 5 lines connecting to 108 stations. It is locally popular as Metro de Santiago. It is also the second largest in Latin America.
The Metro lines consist of Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 4A, Line 5 and Line 6. Hubs consist of San Pablo, Puente Cal y Canto, Santa Ana, Los Héroes, Universidad de Chile, Baquedano, Los Leones, Tobalaba, La Cisterna, Franklin, Plaza Egaña, Vicuña Mackenna, Irarrázaval and Nuble. The metro begins at 5.30am and goes until midnight. As for fares, you have single trip tickets, special concession cards for senior citizens and students. There is also contactless smartcard called Bip card to hold multiple fares.
