About San Diego Zoo
Located in California, the San Diego Zoo is a popular tourist attraction at the Balboa Park, and is one of the first zoo, to introduce open cage exhibits, and successfully breed the Giant Panda species. Visited by over 4 million people, San Diego Zoo is a prominent landmark in the city, built over 100 acres of land, and managed by the San Diego Zoo Global, the parent organization of the Balboa Park. Opened in 1916, the San Diego Zoo holds over 650+ species and 3,700+ animals, and the popular exhibits are the elephant odyssey, polar bear plunge, and the monkey trails.

Designed by architect Louis John Gill, it is one of the oldest zoological park in the world, and is popular for the Skyfari, an aerial tram running, 3 miles long. The Zoo, is notably famous for housing the largest number of Red Giant Pandas in North America, and is the most popular attraction at the Zoo. Major highlights at the Zoo, are the guided bus tour, miniature train ride, skyfari-aerial tram, children’s play area, 4d theatre, and the main exhibits are the Australian outback, Lost forest, Panda canyon, Discovery outpost, Northern frontier, Urban Jungle, Asian passage, and Elephant odyssey.

The bus tour covers 65% of the park, in under 35-minutes and includes the morning feedings times of the Koalas, elephants, and polar bears, and the African Rain forests are the newly added attractions to the Zoo, along with the Arctic Taigas. The 60-minute guided Discovery cart tour, gives the visitors a much closer interaction with the Zoo habitat, plants, and animals, and the night tours and early morning expeditions are available for nature enthusiasts, to watch the animals thrive in their primal habitat.
