About Bureau of Immigration
The Bureau of Immigration in Philippines is the chief government agency responsible for monitoring the movement of persons across the borders. Formed in the year 1940, the agency operates from its base at Manila, with the activities supervised by the Department of Justice. Prior to 1940, the bureau operated as a division of the Bureau of Customs.
Since its founding, the agency has been responsible for the administration and enforcement of immigration, citizenship, and alien admission and registration laws. Headed by the Commissioner, the agency regulates the entry, stay and exist of foreign nationals in the country. It also monitors the entry and exit of Filipino citizens. Additionally, it issues immigration documents andidentification certifications on non-immigrant, immigrant and special non-immigrant visas.

It enjoy the rights to cancel immigration documents upon violation of laws and procedures.
