About NJ Transit
NJ Transit is a public transportation corporation that began operations in 1979. Serving the state of New Jersey, NJ Transit operates 711 trains and 45 light rail vehicles and 2,027 buses. More than 223 million passengers are transported each year through NJ Transit. It alsoย offers frequent rail service to Newark Airport from New York city. And getting from airport terminal to NJ Transit trains can be done via AirTrain. You can find station and parking information here. As for light rail, there are three light rail lines – Newark Light Rail, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and River LINE.
Tickets can be purchased at ticket offices or through vending machines. Payment for tickets can be made through cash, debit cards and credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA). Ticket options include one way tickets, monthly passes and weekly passes. NJ Transit does not issue refunds for one-way or round-trip tickets. For corporates, there is BusinessPass that allows to save even more on monthly rail, bus, and light rail passes. There are special student tickets and passes that offers great savings.
If you are always on the go, download the NJ Transit mobile app to book tickets, plan journey, view train schedule or even contact the customer service. Sign up for NJ Transit’s free email alert system (My Transit) to be informed of delays of 15 minutes or more, ย get schedule changes, station advisories and other important announcements. Alerts can be sent to your mobile device or email inbox. For more information or queries on tickets, payment, refund, cancellation, parking, lost and found items, or others, reach the NJ Transit customer service.
The NJ Light Rail and North East Corridor is lousy. The train drivers tear down the track at dangerously fast speeds. The entire train just shakes and grinds. No wonder my back hurts. They don’t make a nice smooth stop at the station to they jerk.
It’s the worst ride ever
I am on the 2:11 New York train Dover/Gladstone train to South Orange and the cars are crowded and their are cars not in use. Why have NJT reverted back to pre Covid days where you make it easy for the conductors to collect ticket and sit after every stop. You mandate that we were mask n then crowd us into cars to spread your germs by refusing to open all cars so customers can spread out. Please let your conductors know its not fair to close cars so they can do nothing its about customer safety first.
I would like to acknowledge one of your drivers. His ID number is 50245. He drives the first 114 bus in the morning that goes to NY from Bridgewater. He is what I call a Gentleman. He’s Caring. He’s Compassionate. He’s above and beyond Manly. He greets everyone entering the bus with a Warm Good Morning, whether he or she responds or not. With a Personality like his that hour in the morning it’s just Remarkable. Transit needs to give him the Roses while he can smell them. I would appreciate if the Authorities let him know how much he’s appreciated. Always on time. His name to me is not important. The Passion he shows for his job is what counts.
