About Nishat Bagh
Nishat Bagh is a popular Mughal garden in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir visited by tourists throughout the year. Also known as Nishat Garden, the terraced garden is located near the scenic Dal Lake. Smaller in size to the other Mughal garden Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh was built in 1633 by Asif Khan, elder brother of Nur Jehan. Nishat Bagh, which in English means ‘garden of delight’, is spread across 46 acres. It is currently owned and managed by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department.

The most beautiful feature of the garden are the 12 terraces representing twelve Zodiacal signs. The terraces have different colored roses, lilies and other flowers. Having the Zabarwan Mountains in its background, the garden and the landscape is a true spectacle. One cannot miss the tall Chinnar and Cypress trees and the Mughal central water channel with several fountains.

While the water pool is at the first terrace, the second terrace encompasses five fountains. Other terraces also have a water chute and fountains. The fourth terrace has a water channel and a square pool and the fifth terrace has a stone bench and a square chamber with five fountains. The top terrace has the Zenana garden.

Open all days with an exception being Friday, the park can be accessed any time between 9am to 7pm. Visitors will need to posses an entrance ticket to enjoy the enchanting landscape based on Persian gardens. The terraced garden can be easily reached by public transport. If you love shopping, there are also a number of stalls outside the garden. For complaints or queries on tickets, events, parking, photography, or others, reach the Nishat Bagh support.
