About Transit App
Transit is a free smartphone app that makes planning journeys on public transport easy and hassle free. Available on Android and iOS, the app was initially released in 2012 and was developed in Montreal, Canada. Millions of users use the app to discover nearest public transit options and get departure and arrival information in real-time. Further, through Transit one can set alerts so they dont miss a trip, set upcoming stop alerts and enjoy offline trip planning when they dont have access to mobile data or WiFi. Transit maps are available across 55 cities, including New York City, Paris, Mexico City and Sydney.

The app is available for use in 200+ cities. The supported regions include Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Sweden, UK and the US. After downloading the app, users can use the search bar to look for nearest transit lines or locations. You not only see the transit line name, but also the time for departure and direction. Real-time departures are marked with radio waves. Additionally, you can view the full schedule for a route, add a route to ‘favourites’ and get service alerts on schedule changes or stop relocations. And there is ‘Go’ if you want to get step by step directions and notifications when it is time to leave or when you should change a line.

As you transit through different modes, it is difficult to keep track of tickets. You can avoid these hassles, by now buying tickets directly within the app. The feature is currently available for select cities. Once the ticket has been purchased, you can activate same and show your phone when you get on board. Create a Transit account to save favourite transit lines, store payment information and check recent trips.

And if you thought Transit is only for buses and metro, that is not all. Transit also supports subway, tube, light-rail, tram and streetcar. Additionally, you can order a ride with Uber, locate e-scooter and unlock a bikeshare bike. For complaints, queries or suggestions, you can reach the Transit app support through email. There is also a Help section with frequently asked questions to help travellers.
