About National Railway Museum
National Railway Museum is a railway museum located at Leeman Road, York, England. Established in 1975, the museum is said to be the largest railway museum in the world. It houses more than a million objects spanning 300 years of history. Located right around the corner of York Railway Station, National Railway Museum welcomes more than 700,000 visitors each year.
For some facts, the National collection at the museum includes more than 300 locomotives and rolling stock, 628 coins and medals, 4899 pieces of railway uniform and costume, artwork and railway related photographs. You will also find a large collection of Royal trains, including a collection of Royal carriages used by the British royal family. Art lovers will be enthralled by the impressive collection of 11,270 posters, 2,358 prints and drawings, 1052 paintings, and 1,750,000 photographs.
The largest locomotive found at the award-winning museum is the Chinese Locomotive. You will also find here the only Japanese Bullet Train outside Japan. Entry to the museum is free.
