About MRT-3
The MRT-3 or Metrostar Express is a rapid transit system serving Metro Manila, Philippines. The metro, owned by the Metro Rail Transit Corporation (MRTC), began operations in the year 1999 and currently connects to 13 stations with terminals at North Avenue and Taft Avenue. The trains operate from 5.30am to 11pm. The MRT, also called the new Yellow Line, was designed to carry 350,000 passengers .
The MRT-3 line begins at North Avenue and connects through Quezon Avenue, GMA-Kamuning, Araneta Center-Cubao, Santolan-Annapolis, Ortigas, Shaw Boulevard, Boni, Guadalupe, Buendia, Ayala, Magallanes and Taft Avenue.
As for fares, commuters have Single Journey tickets and Stored Value tickets. The single ride ticket is valid only on the date of purchase. The Stored Value ticket is valid for 3 months and can hold multiple fares. There are special discounted fares for students and senior citizens.
