Just went to movie world today with my daughter for her first theme park experience and first roller coaster. Over $200 to get in THEN you have to download an app, pay for fast track then pay extra to actually get on a fricken ride!! It was absolutely pathetic and disappointing, too many people line ups for over 2.5 hours!! Then they were closed to pay for quick entry by the time we figured it all out!! Do not waste your money on this rip off theme park!! Would have preferred dream world even with the threat of death. Would love a refund but I won’t hold my breath.
Went to Movieworld today, 9 of us so excited as we had to cancel 3 times due to travel restrictions and covid. Got there…everyone was so happy until 4 rides were out for maintenance. Not happy. Then the staff were so rude especially the long dark haired girl on the Scooby Doo ride. Will not come here again. A lot of smaller rides were great and staff very helpful and polite. If games are under maintenance please open later so people can enjoy the whole experience.
Most disappointing day out for the entire family. $400 for us to enter for the day. No such thing as reduced numbers due to Covid. 2 hrs waiting in line for the Scooby Doo ride. Everyone around us was complaining. To make it even more of a slap in the face the queue took even longer because those on the Fast Track line would jump in each time. It’s extremely disappointing that you not only spend hundreds for a so called family day out but you need to spend even more just to get on rides quicker. What about those that can’t afford the extra $$. Movie World should be ashamed of how they are running the park and the costs. We left early with two very disappointed kids who couldn’t wait to get out of there. Don’t waste your time or $$ and take a packed lunch as the queue for food is just as bad.
Posting this here as when I called the complaints line they gave me an email that didn’t respond for over 2 weeks now.
My family and i purchased the $700 sea world accommodation and theme park pack on 2nd march till the 5th march 2021.
we headed to SEAWORLD thinking it would be a wonderful experience for our children, after the 10 hr drive and we were saddened, surprised and quite disappointed to see how lacking, lifeless and not much was going on for such a hot day. We managed to find a dolphin show that we could go to but hardly worth the money we forked out to get there.
Walking away not knowing wether it was just that day or what.
We decided to go to movie world the next day, resting assured it would be better, seeing it was my sons birthday and the very reason we came. But we were bombarded with signs of maintenance and currently not operating at this time. the only rides we managed to get on were the Scooby doo when it was open again, the road runner for my little girl, which was hardly a thrill for the older ones and even we came to go on the wet and wild, a man turned us around and said sorry, closing it as it is experiencing technical difficulties. managed to get on the merry go round and go to the yogi bear show. but apart from that the Joker was closed for maintenance, Superman was closed, and a few others i can not recall and again our day ended on another sour note.
We thought we could try Wet and wild, and come back another day for the other parks, surely they have fixed the issues by then, and so thankful that was an absolutely fun day.
The following day, being our final day, we went back to SeaWorld, thinking and hoping things would have picked up seeing that its FRIDAY, but it was still the same, spoke to a worker there at the desk and asked why things aren’t running and she told us that it closes for maintenance to prepare for the SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!!! we were in disbelief, and to be honest, absolutely disgusted. We paid way more than any pass holder, took our kids out of school to give them what we thought an experience to remember. travelled all the way from Sydney and it was just not good enough. If maintenance is to be done, and most rides to be closed, then we deserve to know, and certainly not be charged for the full amount.
We then went to movie world, my son and husband lined up for what the app said to be 30mins, which instead was over an hour for the Joker, something they wanted to do from the beginning, almost 3/4 of the way there and someone comes along and says sorry this ride is closed for Maintenance!!! Sorry, WHAT??!! it was the only ride that was so called running as Superman was closed, Green Lantern was CLOSED, Batman, you guessed it, CLOSED, along with several others. So many were left angry and disappointed.
I hate when COVID is used to rip people off by pushing prices, excuses for lack of service and happy to still charge for normal operation when hardly anything was operating
From a very Disappointed Family
Little disappointed with the visit to movieworld today. My niece took my girls there, I understand about the virus but not many rides open and lunch for three was triple the usual price. This is very disheartening as the local passes are not cheap to buy and the drink refills seem to have had the price increased aswell. One would think you would either offer discounts or do something to encourage the local to come and visit. The sanitiser was empty when we walked in and when we walked out. Extremely disappointed in this visit, hopefully this is taken on-board.
Today I went out of Movie world disappointed.
At end of our day (family of 4) we went to buy photos. And there it was blondie, younge and with no manners girl who rolled eyes on my boy (2.5) who asked my husband if he can have show bag! Seriously you should consider who is working for you!
If someone doesn’t like kids maybe vonsider not to work in this place. Terrible experience. Rude. I was coming there every year few times. After this I dont kave that nice feeling for this park.
Came to Movie world today with the wife and kids. Oh boy! Where to start. $550 later entered at 9:30. Decided to go on the marvel coaster. We saw a sign that said 70 min wait but decided to stick it out. 150 mins later we left that ride. We all were tired and miserable. What a start. Then the dodgem cars. Because of the poor training given to drivers, 4 out of the 5 mins allocated for the ride was spent with the cars stationary. Oh, that was a 90 min line to boot. Too many people let in to the park. Disgusting. I will never ever come back. All you have to do is listen to the conversations going on around you to realise everyone feels the same way.
Went to movie world today we as a family of 4 thought it would be a wonderful day out. We have been huge fans of the theme parks on the gold coast. Last visit to movie world was approximately 3 years ago.
So here it is
400 dollars on tickets
Major attraction rides under maintenance
The new Joker ride
Alkham city ride
Scooby Doo
Batman screen ride
Police academy replaced with stunt driver 2
Rating 2 stars
Main street act really appalling Joker comes put dancing. Last time it was Batman action fight against the evil joker and his mob.
Miss Monroe has disappeared.
Looney tunes ride has been replaced with a kids driving track that goes for a mere 5 minutes.
Other looney tune activity parts have been removed as well.
I very rarely write reviews but this had to be done, this park was one of my favorites that i have been visiting for the past 30 years. And today was quite disappointing and embarrassing for my 9 year old son. Maybe the park has gone under new management but once again is very very appalling and would not recommended anyone to buy tickets, just a complete waste.
I will be contacting customer service about this and requesting a refund .
I am sorry to say this but this theme park is not recommended, looks like village is failing another park after failing there Sydney Wet and Wild.
I attended movie world with one of my daughters last October 2018 and had a really good day so on their return to the gold coast I felt it well worth another visit with 3 children and my partner – 5 tickets in all $450, so we packed a lunch and made our return on what we believed would be a good day the first Monday after all the schools had returned in Queensland.
Hoping it would be a repeat we were sadly disappointed. At least half a dozen of the rides weren’t working which meant we had an average wait of an hour the longest was an hour and thirty five minutes for a 3 minute jaunt is unacceptable. It meant that we arrived at 10am left at 4.30 and only managed to complete 4 rides and have some lunch.. Even when all the characters came out we hoped we might be able to skip back and do a couple more but there was still a 45 minute wait.. I will be complaining requesting a refund and find an attraction where I will be sure to complete due diligence and get value for money.. $450 for a family to only enjoy four rides is just a con quite frankly
Some feedback for you.
Pretty ordinary really and the performers really don’t have their heart in it.
I also found it off putting that the performers seem to be wearing outfits with padded muscles. A little like you would see at a toy shop for kids.
Surely you could hire muscle men who look like super heroes.
Very cheap and nasty. Little going on with long lines for the rides that go way too quick. It also seem like you haven’t kept up with all the recent movies that have come out. Pretty disappointed really. Certainly wouldn’t recommend it to people. Sorry.
I posted a letter to you about 4 weeks ago now with my receipts and a claim form. I paid twice for two two day passes. I bought one lot online and the site crashed we went to movie world and purchased the tickets.
After a little while I realise the site had taken my money and I had paid twice. I spoke to the lady at the gate and she gave me the forms to fill out.
I still haven’t heard anything back.
