About Moscow Metro
Moscow Metro began operations in the year 1935. It is one of the busiest subways in the world, with outstanding record of on-time departures and arrivals. Moscow Metro connects to 200 stations with a network that covers over 333 kms. Operated by Moskovsky Metropoliten, the subway carries close to 9 million travellers each day.
Moscow Metro manages 13 lines – Sokolnicheskaya, Zamoskvoretskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, Filyovskaya, Koltsevaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya, Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya, Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya, Kakhovskaya, Butovskaya and Monorail. For a list of stations and route network, visit the website.
As for fares, commuters can pick from Single tickets, student cards and contactless cards. The Single tickets allows you to travel on the metro, monorail, bus, trolleybus or tram. Valid on the entire territory of Moscow, the tickets can be purchased for a single trip or multiple trips. There is also the 90 Minute ticket that allows a single ride on the Metro or monorail.
Commuters can use the electronic card ‘Troika‘ to deposit their tickets, be it for 30 days or up to 1 year. Tickets can be purchased at Metro offices, ticket machines, automated Mosgortrans ticket offices and from surface transport drivers. For more information or queries on tickets, smartcard, payment, refund, cancellation, lost and found items, or others, reach the Moscow Metro customer service via phone or email.
I recently visited Moscow and enjoyed the Metro very much. Best in the world. I am writing a travel book. Can I please use a picture from your website for my book?
Thank you
