About Laketran
Laketran is a US regional public transportation system that began in the year 1974. The transit system serves riders in Lake County, Ohio. Routes the buses connect to and from include Madison, Perry, Painesville Mentor, Fairport Harbor, Concord, Kirtland, Kirtland Hills, Willoughby, Euclid, Eastlake, Timberlake, Lakeline, Willowick, Wickliffe, and Willoughby Hills. The Park-n-Ride service connects commuters to downtown Cleveland. The range of services include six in-county local routes, four commuter park-n-ride routes and door-to-door Dial-a-Ride. Laketran had operating budget of $14.8 million in 2018
Travellers can download the route map available on the website to see the stations and destinations Laketran connects to. Laketran’s fleet of buses currently transport 300,000 passengers in local county routes. More than 160,000 riders use Park-n-Ride and close to 300,000 seniors and those with disabilities use door-to-door service. Local routes operate Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm and Saturday from 8am to 7pm. The Park-n-Ride commuter service between Lake County and downtown Cleveland start at 5am and goes to 8pm. Laketran’s fleet of buses are ADA accessible and are equipped with on-board bike racks.
On the Laketran website you can plan your trip by inputting origin, destination and date. Use the Trip Planner to find the best route to your destination. There is a real-time map if you want to locate a bus on any of Laketran’s routes. The same can also be done using the Laketran smartphone app. You can even schedule or confirm a Dial-a-Ride reservation. For details on fares, navigate to the Fare Information page on the website. Commuters can purchase an All-Day Pass, Regular Fare or reduced fare for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The All-Day Pass costs $4. On Park-n-Ride routes you have Regular Fare at $3.75, 31-Day Ticket and Student Fare. Reloadable smart cards can be used on local bus routes and Cleveland commuter express. The smart cards can be used on multiple services.
Laketran bus passes can be ordered via mail or phone. Regular fares and bus passes can also be purchased through the EZfare smartphone app. The tickets can be purchased and activated before the trip. Purchases can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Value Cards, Smart Card and All-Day Pass can be purchased directly on Laketran.com.
