About Lahore Fort
Lahore Fort is a beautiful ancient fort located in Lahore, Pakistan, built during the Mughal rule between 1556 and 605. Famously known as the Shahi-Qila, the mega structure is located in Iqbal Park on the north western corner of the city. Said to have been built by Emperor Akbar, the Lahore Fort has two gates – Alamgiri Gate and Masti Gate. Spread across 20 hectares, the fort was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
Lahore Fort displays a Persian art-form and has stunning calligraphy and marble structures. There are about 21 notable monuments within the fort. Other must visit spots inside include the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Shish Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) and Diwan-e-Khas (Hall of Special Audience).
