About Kuwait Zoo
Kuwait Zoo is a popular place of tourist interest that is located in Farwaniya, Kuwait. Though the zoo was completely destroyed during the Iraqi invasion in 1991, it was renovated and restored soon. Spread across 180,000 sq mts, the zoo is divided into 4 sections – Animal Section, Cultural Center, Maintenance Section and Veterinary Clinic. Located in Omariya, the zoo boasts of 1800 species of animals, reptiles and birds. To name some of them, you have lions, bears, monkeys, deers, elephants, tortoises, giraffes, emus, crocodile, zebra, vultures, flamingos, eagles, parrots, snakes, cobras and owls.
Among other highlights is the Nile crocodile which is about 3 mts long. There is also a large Reptile House with rat snakes, cobras and sand snakes. For kids, there is a toy train that takes a round of the zoo. Tickets can be purchased at entry. There are also restaurants inside the zoo for dining. Kuwait Zoo is open from 8am to 8pm.
