About Kruger National Park
Kruger National Park is one of the largest national parks in Africa, covering an area of 20,000 sq kms. The wildlife reserve is located in the Northeastern parts of South Africa and was established in the year 1926. Part of the UNESCO-designated Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, the park is managed by the South African National Parks. Visitors to the park enjoy guided game viewing safaris and can see elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, leopards and buffaloes. There are also close to 520 species of birds and 114 species of reptiles. For some interesting facts, the park is said to be home to over 48 tons of ivory and some 12,000 elephants. You also have about 124 recorded rock art sites and 254 known cultural heritage sites. Additionally, more than 300 archaeological Stone Age sites have been found here.

Visitors to the Kruger National Park have 21 rest camps, 2 bush lodges (Boulders and Roodewal), and 15 private safari lodges. The Bushveld camps include Bateleur, Biyamiti, Shimuwini, Sirheni and Talamati. As for the main camps, they include Berg-en-Dal, Crocodile Bridge, Letaba, Lower Sabie, Mopani, Olifants, Punda Maria, Satara, Skukuza and Tamboti. The camping tariffs vary according to features. For day visitors, the gate opens at 5.30am and closes to 6.30pm. The entrance gates include the Crocodile Bridge Gate, Giriyondo, Kruger Gate, Malelane Gate, Numbi Gate, Orpen Gate, Pafuri Gate, Phabeni Gate, Phalaborwa Gate and Punda Maria Gate. Advanced reservation of tickets is possible. The daily conservation fee varies for children, adults and foreign visitors. There is the Wild Card that gives access to the park 365 days a year.
