About Korean National Police Agency
The Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) is the chief law enforcement agency in South Korea established in the year 1991. Headed by the Commissioner General, the police force is responsible to the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs. The Korean National Police, headquartered at Seodaemun, Seoul, oversees 1 deputy department, 8 bureaus, 9 director generals and 32 divisions. It further commands 17 regional National Police agencies under which comes more than 250 police stations and 1470 sub-police stations. The important local agencies are spread across Seoul, Susan, Daegu, Incheon, Daejeon, Gwangju, Ulsan, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam and Jeju. Police personnel and eligible personnel are trained at the National Police College, Police Comprehensive Academy and Central Police Training School.
