About Kerala Tourism
kerala-tourism-picKerala Tourism, formally Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is a public sector undertaking to promote tourism in the state of Kerala. Headquartered at Thiruvananthapuram, the corporation has offices spreading across each district of the state, while operating hotels, resorts, and tourist rest houses in key locations. The agency is well known for its aggressive and effective advertising campaign with the slogan “Official host to God’s own country.” Some of the most visited destinations include Alappuzha, Bekal, Fort Kochi, Kovalam, Kumarakom, Munnar, Thekkady, Varkala, Wayanad and Muzhappilangad.

With the Arabian Sea in the west, the Western Ghats towering 500-2700 metres in the east and networked by 44 rivers, Kerala is one of the world’s most bountiful nature havens. It is well known for its serene beaches, tranquil emerald backwaters, lush hill stations, exotic wildlife, and sprawling paddy fields. Exuberant festivals are also a major attraction. Kerala Tourism also highlights the state’s rich heritage of Ayurveda. Special Ayurvedic health sessions are available for a number of ailments or simply stress relief. The agency benefits from a largely interconnected state where tourist attractions are close by to one another. The Kerala Tourism website serves as a portal to easily access key information about all the famous sites in the city in English and other languages like Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Dutch, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil and many more.

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has undertaken a great deal of work to promote Kerala as a leading tourist destination. Besides locating new potential tourist destinations in the state, it has also worked to provide auxiliary support to develop these. It strives to ensure highest quality hospitality to visitors while providing a quick and easy resource of information. The corporation itself runs government-approved hotels, resorts and tourist rest houses to encourage visitors. Its properties are managed under the four brands: Premium Range, Value Plus, Tarmind Eaze and Aaram. Wherever possible, Kerala Tourism has worked to increase employment opportunities for the locals especially in areas like local crafts and guide services. Besides earning a great deal of money for the government, the agency has enriched the local heritage and culture.

Within the country, Kerala has the highest literacy rate (near 100%), lowest infant mortality and highest life expectancy rates. Despite the lack of any major cities, it is one of the most developed states of India. From relatively unknown even in India in the 1960’s, the state has become one of the largest tourism hubs of India. Reach the Kerala Tourism customer care for further information.
