About Filmfare
Filmfare is a Worldwide Media magazine in English on Bollywood (Hindi cinema). It has gradually moved on from being a monthly magazine to a magazine published bi-weekly, mostly to satisfy die-hard Bollywood fans all over. Filmfare also takes pride of starting two major motion picture awards.
Regular segments of the magazine are Nayan, Big Ticket, Generation Next, Future Stock, Fashion Play, Photo shoots, etc. These sections cover every nook and corner of the Indian cinema from spicy gossips to movie reviews. It is a platform of recognition for new budding actors who wish to stay in the memory of viewers. It also rates the glamour quotient of the Indian film industry with its ‘hot ‘or ‘not’ type columns. Film stars are often viewed under a magnifying glass, people are in constant need of news feed from them. Filmfare acts as a medium of trustworthy communication.
Filmfare keeps a keen eye on recent film releases so that the readers can choose from a whole lot of them. This makes sure that the deserved movies get their due credit. Following style statements is the very nature of Indian population. People try to copy the look of their favorite film stars. Filmfare publishes exclusive photographs of actors and actresses, this act as a stencil for the readers.
Filmfare is a two way system of information exchange as at times movie stars themselves use this tabloid to communicate with their fans. They use it as a platform to promote their films or discuss issues of social importance. It is a reference book to Bollywood which is growing older and smarter with time. To honor the development of south Indian film industry Filmfare launched a new edition which became popular almost instantaneously. This is not surprising going by the popularity of southern film industry and Filmfare.
Filmfare awards-for Hindi movies- and Filmfare awards south-for Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada- are two major awards by Filmfare to honor contributions to the Indian cinema. These award functions are a festival in themselves and enjoy a prestige that none other does. They have become a milestone for every to be superstar. The pomp and show associated with them is huge and they are a showcase of rich Indian cinema. It is the oldest film institution of the country and analogous to Indian Oscars. They exemplify how deeply Filmfare is rooted in the institution of Indian film industry. Encapsulating, Filmfare is a household name and an institution as big as the Indian film cinema itself.
61st Filmfare Awards – Comments on the show:
– Why was SRK paid over 1 crore for hosting? We do not watch Filmfare awards because of hosts. SRK bored us to death as host
– SRK ?Irfan Khan skit on Peku was the lowest point of the show. What garbage was that such low level language. Shame on SRK and Filmfare.
– Kapil was only fresh breath in the show
– Money spent on hosts such as SRK could have been used to help Orphan children, homeless people etc.
Award show did not live up to it’s class because of low level skits, language of SRK.
Thanks
