About Eden Gardens Stadium
stadium

Established in the year 1864, Eden Gardens is the second largest cricket ground in India with a seating capacity of 68,000. Eden Gardens is also said to be the fourth largest in the world. The home ground of Bengal cricket team, the stadium is owned by the Indian Army and is managed and operated by the Cricket Association of Bengal. The ground held its first Test match in the year 1934 and the first ODI in the year 1987. High Court End and Pavilion End are the names of the two bowling ends.

Matches regularly held in the stadium include Test, One Day and Twenty-20. Indian Premier League (IPL) matches are also annually head. The ground in fact is the home of IPL’s Kolkata Knight Riders. For the 2011 Cricket World Cup, Eden Gardens underwent a major renovation with a new clubhouse and other state-of-the-art facilities. The ground has 14 gates, an indoor stadium, with neatly organised seating blocks. Coming to cricket facts, the stadium’s highest Test scores were registered by India, and the most runs was scored by VVS Laxman (1217 runs).

Tickets for IPL matches can be booked on the official iplt20.com website or on the homepages of the teams scheduled to play. For other queries, lost items, or complaints, reach the Eden Gardens support.
