Dublin Bus is Ireland’s largest transport company operated by the state-owned Cรณras Iompar Eireann Group. Launched in 1987, Dublin Bus employs more than 3,450 people, out of which close to 2,500 are drivers managing the fleet of 1,000+ buses. The company claims that in 2018 it carried 139 million passengers. The range of services include Cross City, Radial, Orbital, DART Feeder, Airlink, and Nitelink. The fleet of buses are modern, with comfortable seating. They are also wheelchair accessible and WiFi enabled. The brand’s vision statement states it vies to “provide a transport service where people feel safe, connected and part of sustainable community life”. The major city centre bus stops consist of Parnell Square, O’Connell Street, The Quays, Trinity College, Dame Street, Nassau Street and St Stephen’s Green. Ticket rates vary for adults, students and children. The rates are available on the website. It is suggested to have the correct change to pay for your fare. Otherwise you can use the reusable Leap Card. The smart card can be used on all Dublin Bus services. You can purchase same on the website or at Payzone outlets across the city. Card holders can top up online, through ticket machines and Leap Card agents. Regular travellers can take advantage of the monthly and annual tickets. They are valid on Dublin Bus scheduled services including Airlink, Xpresso and Nitelink. The Visitor Leap Card allows for unlimited use on all Dublin Bus services.
