We have held gold passes for several years and bought silver for the children and grandchildren. One of our favorite family traditions is to take the children to the park between Thanksgiving and Christmas. But, with the new blackout dates on silver passes for Dec and Jan starting in 2023, we will no longer be able continue this special event and the children will miss out visiting Dollywood during this most special time of the year. I always considered Dollywood a very family oriented park. It appears the park maybe moving away from the family friendly environment we have always enjoyed. I am so sorry to see this happen.
My wife and I purchase Dollywood Super passes for our family members. We have always bought a Super Gold for one member of each household and the remaining members, we purchased Super Silver Season Passes. Starting in November of this year, our family members with the Silver Super pass will no longer be able to go to the park with the Gold Pass holders on 11/22-through the remainder of the year due to blackouts. The Super Silver Season Pass holders would be required to purchase a one day pass to accompany the Gold Pass holders. We have purchased these season passes for our family members for the last 12 years, but now, due to GREED, we will no longer be purchasing season passes. They have changed everything to the worst possible ways they can. You no longer play a game at the country fare for a dollar, they are now five dollars per game. They have changed the access for handicapped individuals making it more difficult to get into the park. We have spent a great deal of money in the past for Dollywood entertainment, but now with these changes, we won’t be coming back.
I have been a gold member at Dollywood for about 15 years. On September 17th, I took my son and daughter-in-law to Dollywood for his birthday. Mind you, I haven’t seen him in over 4 years so it was great to spend a weekend with him. We went to Dollywood because I had free passes for the 2 of them. When we got there, I couldn’t use the passes because it was a Saturday. I have always been able to use the passes on the weekend except certain weekends like July 4th. And because it was Hot Rod weekend the park was maybe at 25% capacity. Everybody was out on the strip, not at Dollywood. Apparently the passes changed and they can’t be used on Friday or Saturday or now the whole month of December. Not sure when they changed it. So we ended up paying for my son and daughter-in-law. Then inside the park, shows that were supposed to play had been cancelled. The eagles were all gone, due to doctor checkups. And by the way I totally hate the way they have changed the trolley pickup and drop off situation. Now you have to walk even farther than you did before. Dollywood is changing and not for the better. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD.
We had a FABULOUS time at Dollywood Theme Park with our grandchildren. When you exit the theme park, you must exit thru the DW Emporium. I understand the concept to exit thru a store filled with all sorts of DW merchandise. It’s difficult not to walk straight to the exit and not purchase something. And of course you have to have the souvenir T-Shirt for the grandchildren. PLEASE check your receipt while standing at the register or add up all your purchases before you approach the check out. I checked my receipt after leaving the park and realized I was charged twice for one t-shirt. The employee was in a rush ringing my purchases up, and I didn’t pay close enough attention to the items being scanned. Therefore, I paid 39.98 for ONE youth size t-shirt because the employee rang the same t-shirt up TWICE. The t-shirt was 19.99 for one. Just make sure you check your receipt. I plan to return to DW in Nov., but I’m pretty sure I will not receive my money back, but I’ll certainly try.
We rode the Pigeon Forge Trolley so that we would be closer to the ticket booth, but that didn’t happen. We walked around a half mile to the end of the fence and then had to walk back to the ticket booth the same distance. My girlfriend has a broken ankle and is wearing a walking boot.
I just drove 2 hours and brought the kids to splash country and my husband bought our tickets and upgrades his to the gold so we wouldnโt have to pay for parking every time. No one told us the family canโt use it if he isnโt with us. He is works here canโt come all the time and now we canโt because they charged me $25 to get in! So ridiculous I wonโt ever by passes again!
This is my last time coming, I have a handicap sister who has seizures an cannot be left alone an the park employees kept telling us we had to separate that’s a big NO, an then she couldn’t walk from the parking area to the park or even get on the tram so we just decided to get our money back an left. We was really looking forward to going but they definitely need to make things more suitable for the handicap an disable people. It’s sad that they make all this money but yet can’t be more accessible!!!!!
We just recently had a trip to Dollywood as well as splash mountain, we paid the full price for ticket admission yet all the rides were not available including the largest waterslide area at splash mountain along with the big bear splash falls. That was very disappointing to us, also you have to time it just right in order to get on lightning rod. It seems to always be under maintenances also the parking situation with the $25 per day isn’t fair as I have three day tickets but I divided it up between myself and one of my smaller children and my older teenage daughter so we ended up attending the park 5 days even though we had three day tickets and I had to pay $25 five times rather than the three.
I agree with the previous comments. Yes, just stand and watch the folks coming through the gates. Many are senior citizens like me and my husband. He’s 83 and I am almost 82. He has two artificial knees. We were there also during his birthday on May 24th. We, like the others, were shocked at who would think making us walk so far after getting off the bus from Patriot Park would be a smart decision. It was hot and we saw others with walkers and canes making that long, hard trek. We used to get off the bus and walk directly over to the gate. Like another said, we get enough walking in the park. We have supported Dollywood for years by purchasing season passes when we know we won’t be traveling just because of the patriotism and non-discrimination again God and country. Dollywood needs to ask Dolly what she thinks of the new system. Or, also, put someone over 30 with a little common sense on the group making such dumb decisions. We are now questioning whether it is a good idea to purchase season passes in the future.
I understand that you are redoing the parking lot. But, when we parked in the handicap parking then had to walk what seemed a mile. For someone who has trouble walking then to walk that far what were you thinking??? Poor poor planning. Then our first stop was the pines theater. We have been a season pass holder for many years. I was appalled at the actions of one of your employees. I should have got his name. He literally got in a woman’s face and told that her purse was taking up a seat when he just announced we would have to move to the center and he said only 4 people complied. The room was not even close to being full. And he told another man that he could go over there to take his shoes off so they could each have a seat. He continued to rant. Then he tried to be funny after that when he saw people were taking him seriously and not saying a word.
We are season ticket holderโs and we visited the Park the week of May 23rd. Our first visit since the new Tram and Parking Lot Configuration and boy were we disappointed in the new system. We are Senior Citizens and boy you have added a lot more walking for us older people. We get enough walking in the park and now you have added another quarter mile just to get in the Entrance. Somethingโs needs to be done for us older folks. I am the same age as Dolly and I am sure she would not like this longer walk either.
Great job on getting ECVs in the morning close to where they are needed. But it is ridiculous that those who need them my wife for one after a long day in the park have to drop the ECV off inside the park and walk all the way to the handicap A-lot. Sure the tram runs to the handicap A-lot but the pick up has been moved to right beside the A-lot. So they have to stand and wait to catch a tram to go 50 yards. The guest car pick up is also all the way out there next to the tram pick up. If those folks could walk that distance comfortably they wouldn’t need the ECV to start with. I understand ya’ll are in a transition phase but if there was a option on ECV drop off out there it is not clearly displayed. Dollywood puts on some great shows and crafts. This is what draws these older people and ones with disabilities. Just stand up before the show starts and pay attention to the average age of those there. We enjoyed a full day and never rode a ride. But the trek back to your car for someone they draw to the park with those things is not well thought out even for a transition phase. The car pick up moved smoothly it should be moved closer and allow ECV guest to drop them off there as well. Dollywood should consider these issues as great opportunities for improvements.
Horrible experience, first and last time here. Drove 12 hours and paid for a two nights stay so we could enjoy the park.
Arrive this morning and waited on line for over and hour when the closed the first coaster. Then went and grabbed three burgers and a drink for $65. The waited on another line and the ride continues to delay. The employees rarely or never communicate what is going on or how long it will be. I have been on line since 1:40 and still have not made it on the ride.
If you want to buy three OK burgers for $360 then go to Dollywood. Its unfortunate, I love Dolly and I am sure she would be embarrassed about the service level\experience. This was a waste of money and I feel bad that I spent money here on her spring break. She could have gotten a lot more enjoyment elsewhere with the $360.
