About City of Arts and Sciences
Located in the city of Valencia, the City of Arts and Sciences is a prominent tourist destination in Spain, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. The City of Arts and Sciences is a scientific and cultural campus, constructed in 1996, on a dry Turia riverbed, and is home to some of the finest futuristic architectural buildings, with multi-faceted functionalism and aesthetics. The complex, is amongst one of the 12 treasures of Spain, and is the most often visited attraction in Europe.

Visited by more than 4 million tourists annually, the futuristic space city, unfolds over 350m2, offering an enriched experience to study, explore, and experience the time-space-expanse in a 3-dimensional form. Built and designed using innovative lightweight materials, the buildings are parabolic structures, in shape and volume. The construction spanned over a decade, and cost €900 million, marking the complex as the symbol of the city, and as an important architectural landmark.

Opened to the public in 1998, the complex divides into 6 zones, namely the Hemisfèric IMAX Cinema, the Umbracle landscape, the Príncipe Felipe Science centre, the Oceanogràfic aquarium, the Reina Sofía Palace for opera, and the Ágora multi-functional stage. Activities and events such as conferences, galleries, guided tours, & hands-on interactive sessions, educate visitors about life science, digital media, nature, and applied arts. Aquatic life, at the complex is hugely popular, for holding over 500 marine species from various parts of the world, such as the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, Oceans, and the swamplands.

Guided tours are available for tourists, and the duration lasts for about 2 hours, to tour the entire complex, within a walking radius of two km. Entertaining leisurely activities such as rooftop dining, sightseeing tour, and bike riding are other options to explore near and around the complex. Open all round the year, the City of Arts and Sciences is the busiest during the summer season, from June-August, and is easily accessible from the city centre, through bus, train, and car.

Entrance tickets come with single or combo offers, and vary according to availability. An adult ticket for the Oceanographic, cost €29.70 and, for a child €22.30, and an adult ticket for the science museum cost €8 and, for a child €6.60. You can skip the queues at entrance by reserving a ticket on the website using a Visa or MasterCard. For visiting the IMAX Cinema, it is highly recommended to book tickets online, to reserve seats.
