About Chiang Mai National Museum
Chiang Mai National Museum is among other popular museums in Thailand frequented by both residents and visitors to Chiang Mai. Located close to Wat Jet Yot, the museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm. The museum famously houses the Lanna artefacts and objects connected to the Northern Thai history. Preserving Thai art and culture, the museum was first opened in the year 1973. Besides a number of galleries, you also find a handicraft centre and displays of pottery, weapons, religious icons, and a wide collection of artefacts. The displays are divided into sections that include Lanna Kingdom history, trade and economy of Lanna, Lanna art and modern Chiang Mai.
