About Carnegie Hall
One of the most legendary destinations for music lovers in New York City is Carnegie Hall. This concert venue owned by the New York City Council and designed by architect, William Tuthill, was opened in 1891 and since then, has been delighting music lovers with concerts and music recitals. Carnegie Hall actually comprises of three auditoriums – Stern Auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,804, Zankel Hall with a capacity of 599 and the smaller Weill Recital Hall which can seat 268 people.
With the lofty vision of presenting the transformative power of extraordinary music and musicians to the music loving audience, Carnegie Hall has a dedicated department to design, compose and present over 250 performances each season. It nurtures and cultivates new artists, genres and encourages audience to savour music. It also supports and encourages music education through the Weill Music Institute attached to Carnegie Hall.
Carnegie Hall has a unique architectural style and has come to be known as a historic landmark. It is so well known that even non music lovers visit it just to see the place they have heard so much about. Visitors can take the tour of the Hall six days a week and soak in the magic of the famed Hall. Visitors can also visit the Rose Museum which houses over 400 archival treasures. It is free of cost and open to the visiting public from 11.00 am to 4.30 pm. For music patrons, it is open during intermissions. There is also a souvenir shop where you could purchase some memorabilia.
Tickets for performances can be purchased in one of three ways – online, by phone or at the box office at the Hall. There are many discounts available, including group discounts, to make it easy for people to afford the shows. One could also become a member of the Carnegie Hall and have access to great benefits. To take great music to wider audiences, Carnegie Hall has online live webcasts and radio broadcasts. There is also the facility to rent out event spaces at the Carnegie Hall for special events from parties, galas, weddings and celebrations. Carnegie Hall is wheelchair friendly and has assistive hearing devices.

Fans can filter events by location (Weill Recital Hall, Stern Auditorium, Zankel Hall, Offsite or Resnick Education), genre (choral, debuts, film, jazz, literature), date, and instrument (bass, cello, flute guitar, piano etc). There are free events for which you do not need a ticket. For those that need a reservation, you can book a seat by section or time. Payment for tickets can be made using all major credit cards. Take a subscription to enjoy Carnegie Hall-curated series, best seats, discounts and free ticket exchanges. Note that there are no refunds or exchanges for single ticket sales. Carnegie Hall also charges a small convenience fee when you book tickets online.
