About Buenos Aires Underground (Subte)
Buenos Aires Underground, locally popular as Subte, is the rapid transit system in Argentina. Operated by MetrovÃas, the metro system has 6 lines connecting more than 86 stations. Each day, it serves over 1 million commuters. The first underground railway in Latin America, Buenos Aires Underground was opened in the year 1913. Currently, it connects all major metropolitan areas of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The six lines consist of A (Plaza de Mayo to San Pedrito), B (Leandro N.Alem to J.M. de Rosas), C (Retiro to Constitucion), D (Catedral to Congreso de Tucuman), E (Bolivar to Plaza de los Virreyes), H (Las Heras to Hospitales) and P (Intendente Saguier to General Savio). Tickets for travel can be purchased at manned stations and through vending machines place at entrance. You have Single tickets as well as passes (Subtepass) for multiple trips. Use the re-chargeable smartcard, SUBE for convenient travel on subway, buses and trains.
