The metro has 4 regular and 3 premetro lines, connecting to more than 120 stations. Operated by STIB/MIV, the metro had some 135 million journeys in 2015. STIB’s metros, buses and trams together had close to 370 million journeys. Brussels Metro operates some 66 vehicles.

The metro lines consist of Line 1 (Gare de l’Ouest/West station to Stockel/Stokkel), Line 2 (Simonis), Line 5 (Erasme/Erasmus to Herrmann-Debroux), Line 6 (Roi Baudouin/Koning Boudewijn to Simonis), Line 3 (Esplanade to Churchill), Line 4 (Gare du Nord / Noordstation
to Stalle car park) and Line 7 (Heysel / Heizel to Vanderkindere). Commuters can reach the airport with the Brussels Airport Express train. The line offers direct connection through the Brussels Midi, Brussels-Central and Brussels North station.

As for fares, you have Single MOBIB tickets as well as multiple journey tickets. Tickets can be purchased for single journey, 2 day journey or up to 10 journeys. Purchase the MOBIB card to reload every type of fare, including season tickets. All MOBIB and MOBIB Basic cards can be managed by signing into the account online. Tickets as well can be purchased online using major credit cards. Commuters can further purchase tickets through vending machines, at sales outlets and manned stations.
