About Australian Federal Police
Australian Federal Police (AFP) is the government agency responsible for enforcing rules and maintaining law and order in Australia. Formed in 1979, the AFP was earlier known as Commonwealth Police and then as Australian Protective Service. Currently, it employs more than 6,500 across the country. The federal law enforcement agency is responsible to the Minister for Home Affairs and is headed by the Commissioner of Police. The AFP offices include Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Kingston.

AFP provides policing services to the Australian Capital Territory and territories of Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Norfolk Island and Jervis Bay. The staff works round the clock to investigate crime, prevent terrorism and extremism, build partnerships and manage security at nine major Australian airports. It works closely with state and territory police services, Commonwealth agencies and airport operators.

The various crime types fought by AFP include child smuggling, counterfeit currency, cyber crime, drug crime, environmental crime, terrorism, fraud, human trafficking, and intellectual property crime. The forms section on the website has a number of national and ACT policing forms for download. There is also a form for all National Police Check applications. Cybercrime can be reported to the Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network (ACORN). Need to complain on the conduct or actions of AFP staff? You can do it over phone or by completing an online form. For more information or queries on reporting crime, police station contacts, online forms, or others, reach the Australia Federal Police support.
