I wanted to reach out concerning a matter of importance to me and seemingly more so to sporting platforms and fans at large. I have attended quite a few games this season. In, fact, just recently I was part of a trio that bought season packages. We stopped doing that for the very reason I am sending this missive. I purchased tickets for the just recent match v Philadelphia with the normal expectations of witnessing a competitive game between 2 playoff bound teams. Upon finding the ENTIRE starting lineup of Embiid, Harden, Maxey, Harris, and Tucker were sitting I had finally had enough. I decided NOT to attend. I continue to follow the maxim, โnever throw good money after badโ. Did anyone in their right mind think THAT lineup is worth the price of a regularly priced ticket. It is bad enough that we now have legal third party vendors that Jack up prices and ticket processing fees that are far beyond any reasonable fee for an electronic transfer, we now are stuck with paying premium prices for a sub premium product. Imagine going to a Broadway show (which I do almost every year). They certainly have a process in place for an understudy to take over in case of an emergency- and believe me when I say it has to be necessary (personal trauma, injury, vocals rendered unable to perform, etcโฆ) yet they seldom have this problem. The reason has to be combination of pride and realization of the contract that should be respected between performers and customers. A sport commentator said it best in the recent aftermath of Dallas sitting their players – it is embarrassing. I would add that it borders on the reprehensible banner of false advertisement. Which leads me to two points:
I think it’s very sad that the Hawks are blocking nationally televised games. Many of us don’t have access to Fox Sports Southeast because we dropped cable. It’s messed up.
