Amsterdam Metro customer serviceAmsterdam Metro began operations in the year 1977. The rapid transit and light trail transport system is operated by Gemeentelijk Vervoerbedrijf (GVB), with 5 lines connecting to some 52 stations. Amsterdam Metro annually transports close to 66 million passengers.

The subway consists of lines – Ring Line, Amstelveen Line, North-South Line, East Line – Gaasperplas Branch and East Line – Gein Branch. Three routes start at Amsterdam Central Station. For route map, stops and departure times, commuters can visit the website.

Tickets can be purchased at GVB pre-sales locations, service points and at ticketย kiosks. Commuters can preload tickets onto the electronic OV-chipkaart for convenient travel. The card can also be loaded online by using a credit card. The OV-chipkaart can be used on trains, trams and bus across Netherlands.
