Thailand’s electronic toll collection system banks on Easy Pass, which is designed to expedite travel on the country’s expressways. Eliminating the need for drivers to stop and pay cash at toll booths, Easy Pass allows you to save your precious time and frustration, ultimately streamlining the traveling process.

The way Easy Pass works is by implementing an electronic chip system embedded in a card that is then attached to the windshield of a vehicle. The chip wirelessly communicates with toll equipment, through which the requisite toll fees are automatically deducted as you drive through designated toll lanes. As a result, you do not have to deal with toll booth queues, and there will be less congestion on the expressways. Additionally, Easy Pass users can enjoy the flexibility of topping up their cards online, at ATMs, or at convenience stores.

If you are planning to use Easy Pass to simplify your road tours, then our comprehensive guide is just what you need to complete the registration process and start using the service with peace of mind.

What are the Eligibility Requirements

According to the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), individuals who are looking to apply for Easy Pass should present their identification card (for Thai nationals) or their passports (for foreign nationals).

Additionally, applicants must also present details of their vehicles, such as the make, model, and vehicle registration number, so that the same can be registered on the Easy Pass system with the electronic chip that is to be provided.

How to Apply and Activate

How to Apply Online

  1. Start by first heading over to the official website here.
  2. Begin the registration process by first entering your personal details, such as your identification criteria, phone number, and email address. The email address will be used as a primary means of communication, so make sure you enter your preferred one. After that, enter your account password and click on ‘Confirm’.

  4. After logging in, proceed to purchase your Easy Pass tag by entering your vehicle information and purchasing the requisite amount of top-up balance. Keep in mind that the minimum first top-up is 300 Baht per card.

After successfully completing the purchase process, your Easy Pass tag will be delivered to your doorstep, which you will then need to attach to your vehicle’s windshield. Once done, you can start using Easy Pass.

How to Apply Through an Outlet

  1. The first step involves locating a nearby EXAT customer service center around you. Currently, there are two centers, one being the One Stop Service, which is the head office, and the other being the Automatic Card Customer Service Center. Both centers are open from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM.
  2. Once you have selected your preferred center, head over there with your identity document and vehicle registration certificates.
  3. At the service center, you will be required to showcase your necessary documents, fill out the application form, make the requisite payment, and complete the registration process.
  4. After that, your Easy Pass tag will be handed over to you on the spot, which you can then attach to your vehicle’s windshield and start using right away.

How to Apply at Toll Booth

  1. Begin by first searching for an EXAT toll booth around you, through which you can make the physical registration. Currently, toll booths at the following expressways are accepting new applications: Chaloem Maha Nakhon, Burapha Withi, Udon Ratthaya, Kanchanaphisek, and Prachim Ratthaya.
  2. Head over to your selected toll booth with your identity and vehicle registration documents.
  3. Showcase your requisite documents and complete the application process on the spot. Additionally, make payment for the minimum top-up amount and then obtain your Easy Pass tag.
  4. Finally, attach the Easy Pass tag to your vehicle’s windshield, so that you can start using it.

For any additional queries or assistance, you can get in touch with the EXAT call center via phone at 1543.

Some Useful Information

Once you start using Easy Pass, keep in mind that you need to regularly inspect the amount of balance left in your account, so that you do not face unnecessary hurdles while passing through toll booths. This is why the company has come out with the EXAT Portal Application, which you can download either from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

With the EXAT Portal Application, you can check your account balance, learn about traffic conditions on expressway, know about promotions, and browse through news related to Easy Pass. Additionally, if you need to top up your Easy Pass account, you can do so using the True Money Wallet app. Simply select your preferred amount and payment method, and you will be good to go.
