About Al Shaheed Park
Al Shaheed Park is a popular tourist attraction in Kuwait. It is open from 5am to 10pm. On Fridays, the park opens at 1pm. Visitors can enter the park for free. It is a no smoking and no littering place, and pets as well are not allowed. No filming or photography that requires big equipments are permitted. The park has a modern architecture, with five winning sculptures installed within. There is guest center at the park that has a cloakroom, gift shop, restaurant and outdoor terrace. There is also a multipurpose room that can be used for special events and workshops.
Spread across 200,000 sq mt, the park is managed by Lothan Youth Achievement Center (LOYAC). The park has beautiful gardens, a lake and two museums (Thekra and the Habitat). The Habitat is an environmental museum, while the Thekra is a historical museum providing a glimpse of the many battles, including the Gulf War. One of the major highlights is a seven meter high glass sculpture called The Martyr Monument. It was built to honor the martyrs of Kuwait. Another monument is the Constitution Monument (celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Kuwaiti constitution).
There is an open amphitheater where concerts, performances and plays are held. If you are reaching the place with your own automobile, there is an underground parking with over 900 parking spots.
